Elsie G. (McCaslin) Cook

Wellsville, NY - Elsie G. (McCaslin) Cook of Wellsville went to be with her Lord on Monday (March 23rd, 2009) at the Wellsville Manor Nursing Home.

She was born on March 13th, 1929 in Raymond, Pa. She was the daughter of the late Chester and Ethel (Sherwood) McCaslin. After the passing of husband George Morris, she married Wm. Edward Cook on January 13th, 1968 who also predeceased her in June 1994.

Mrs. Cook was a life long resident of Wellsville. She served her church and community as a devoted long time member and soldier of the Salvation Army. She spent many hours volunteering at the Salvation Army helping in the food pantry, standing as a bell ringer for the annual Red Kettle Christmas fundraiser, packing Christmas baskets and handing out toys for children. Elsie also enjoyed cooking for the Kid’s CafĂ© at the Salvation Army. As a member of the church she served on the Salvation Army’s Corp Council and Secretary for the Women’s Home League. She also enjoyed dancing and listening to the music on Monday evenings. She was an active member of the former Wellsville Grand Squares

Mrs. Cook is predeceased by son Peter (Sharon, Grace) Morris, two sisters (Arlene and baby Jane) and one brother (Benjamin). She is survived by her son Donald (Elaine) Morris of Bellview, Fl; and two daughters Debbie (Kevin) Allen of Avon, NY; Betty (Robert) Costello of Wellsville; and step-daughter Jill (John) King of Coco Beach, Fl. She is survived by 10 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. She also had a special niece Shawn (Donald) Knauer of Wellsville. She is survived by six sisters and two brothers as well as many nieces and nephews.

Friends and family are invited to attend a Memorial Service at 2 PM on Friday, April 3rd, 2009 at the Salvation Army 25 E. Pearl St, Wellsville, NY. Burial will follow at the Yorks Corners Cemetery.

Memorials in honor of Elsie are suggested to the Wellsville Salvation Army 25 E. Pearl St, Wellsville, NY 14895. Arrangements are under the direction of the J. W. Embser Sons Funeral Home Inc.
