Genevieve Helen Cooper

Wellsville, NY - Genevieve Helen Cooper, 89, of 1939 Stannards Road, passed away at home on Tuesday, March 26, 2019. She was born January 25, 1930 in Titusville, PA the daughter of the late Enjar and Amy (Beebower) Anderson. On May 30, 1963, in Townville, PA, she married Howard G. Cooper who predeceased her on September 7, 2014.

Genevieve graduated from Townville High School and Edinboro College. She was employed as a school teacher for many years in the Wellsville Central School System. She and Howard owned and operated the Style Shop on Main Street in Wellsville, and Herbert Cooper Company in Genesee, PA.

Genevieve is survived by four nephews Bob Anderson, Phil (Leora) Anderson, Bruce (Kathy) Steadman, and Rick Steadman, several great nieces and nephews, and a special friend, Kim Sheets and her family of Wellsville. She was predeceased in addition to her parents by a sister, Carol L. Steadman, a brother Kenneth Anderson, and a brother-in-law Lawrence Steadman.

A private funeral was conducted on Saturday, March 30, 2019 at the J.W. Embser Sons Funeral Home, Inc. in Wellsville with Rev. Greg DeSalvatore presiding. Burial followed in Woodlawn Cemetery. Helen P. Coy

Wellsville, NY - Helen P. Coy, age 69, of Scott Avenue passed away on Saturday, March 23, 2019 at Jones Memorial Hospital after a long illness. She was born on December 10, 1949 in Wellsville to Clarence and Helen P. Haskins Armstrong. On February 16, 1965 in Chesterfield, SC. she married the love of her life, Arnold C. Coy who predeceased her on March 11, 2013.

Helen was a life long resident of Wellsville who attended Wellsville Central Schools. She dedicated her life to being a stay at home mom and care giver to her husband, her in laws, and anyone who needed her. She took great pride in her family, her home, and garden. She loved the outdoors especially hunting, fishing, and berry picking. Helen enjoyed playing bingo, Yahtzee, scrabble, ironing, baking, and spring cleaning. She loved family get togethers and Holidays were especially her favorite time of the year.

Survivors include a son, Matthew (Consuelo)  Coy of Wellsville; 3 daughters, Caroline (Jim)  Hubbard, Billie (Michael)  Howell and Angela (William)  Cunningham all of Wellsville; also close to her heart, Dawn Schoenthal of West Virginia; 10 loving grandchildren;4 great grandchildren; a sister; 2 brothers; several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

She was predeceased by her parents, her husband, and several brothers and sisters.

Friends are invited to call on Wednesday, March 27, 2019, at the J.W. Embser Sons Funeral Home in Wellsville from 12 noon till 2 pm. Tina J. Fanton

Wellsville, NY - Wellsville, NY - Tina J. Fanton, age 46, of the River Road passed away on Monday, March 19, 2019, at Jones Memorial Hospital after a brief illness. She was born on May 24, 1972 in Olean to Gene and Debra Kline Tarr. On July 12, 2014 in Wellsville she married Raymond “Ray” Fanton who survives.

Tina graduated from Bolivar Central High School in 1991. That same year she joined the Bolivar Central School's kitchen staff and had worked there for almost 28 years. She was a very dedicated staff member and enjoyed interacting with the students she served. Tina enjoyed dancing, fishing, going to the camp, watching stock car races and NASCAR, the New York Yankees, and watching wrestling  and soap operas on TV. She especially enjoyed family gatherings and she will be remembered for her love of her entire family.

Tina is survived by her husband Ray; her mother and father, Gene and Debra Tarr; her mother in law Sharon Wardner, and her mother in law and father in law Barb and Jim Fanton; her daughter Courtney Barnes; 2 step daughters, Emily Little and Renee' Fanton; a step son Andrew Fanton; a grandchild on the way; a brother, Jason Tarr; 2 sisters, Buffy (Leon)  Gardner Jr. and Kelly Snyder; several sisters and brothers in law, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Paul J. Cole Jr.

 Wellsville, NY - Paul J. Cole Jr., age 85, passed away on Monday, March 18, 2019, at the University of Rochester Medical Center. He was born on October 1, 1933 in Wellsville to Paul M. and Louise A. Tait Cole Sr. On his birthday in 1952 he married the love of his life the former Gertrude  Hulse who predeceased him in February of 2015.

Paul was a life long resident of this area who attended school in Wellsville and later Allentown. He retired from Air Preheater as a Quality Control Inspection Supervisor after 43 years of service. He enjoyed loving and caring for his family, flower and vegetable gardening, woodworking, and being a master of all trades who could build or fix anything. He was a member of the Scio Fire Department and the American Welding Society.

Paul is survived by his 3 daughters, Connie (Robert)  Kulik of Wellsville, Sherry (Charles)  Densmore of Wellsville, and Cindy (Larry)  Chapman of Wellsville; 4 grandchildren, Stacey (Chassity)  Kamrowski, Jason (Stacey)  Kulik, Kristy Kulik, and Joe (Karen)  Chapman; 12 great grandchildren Dylan, Jace, Cole and Kasey Densmore, Noah Roberts, Matthew and Karissa Kulik, Madison and Peyton Kamrowski, Vincent, Hunter and Preston Chapman; 2 sisters, Marguerite “Susie” Halladay and Linda Button.

Paul was predeceased by his Wife Gertrude, his parents, Paul and Louise Cole Sr.; a grandson, Jeffrey Densmore; 2 brothers, William Cole and Ronald Cole; 2 sisters, Beverly Denning and Jenny Burdick; his mother and father in law Clair and Edna Hulse.

Lois E. Stephens

Alma, NY - Lois E. Stephens, 73, of 178 Pump Station Road passed away on Thursday, March 14, 2019 at Wellsville Manor Care Center following a battle with cancer. She was born February 12, 1946 in Wellsville the daughter of the late Albert D. and Nina (Goodnoe) Hurd. On June 27, 1946 in Allentown she married Eldon Clark Stephens who predeceased her on October 2, 2012.

Lois was raised in Andover and Alma, and was a graduate of Scio Central School. She was employed at Worthington Corporation in Wellsville from 1978 to 1981 and the Miller Brewing Company in Fulton from 1983 to 1994. She enjoyed bowling, cross-stitch, and spending time with her pets.

She is survived by three sons, James (Jessica) Stephens of Cortland, Christopher (Tina) Stephens, and Darcy (Michele) Stephens both of Fulton, seven grandchildren, Ryan Stephens, Rachele (Kyle) Vincent, Hunter Stephens, Samantha Lott, Alexis (Joey) Cummins, Sophia Lott, and Aidan Stephens, two great-grandchildren, Toby Cummins, and Ava Vincent, two sisters, Lynda Klemm, Ulysses, PA, and Loni Gaunther, of Michigan, as well as several nieces and nephews.

Barbara Vossler - Siemaszko

Wellsville, NY - Barbara Vossler - Siemaszko passed away on Tuesday, March 12, 2019 at Manor Hills Assisted Living Residence at age 94.  Barbara Helen Marsh was born in Wellsville on October 28, 1924, the daughter of Grover and Louella (Willsey) Marsh.

Barbara graduated from Wellsville Central High School in 1941. In July 1942 she married William R. "Bill" Vossler. The early years of their marriage were spent apart as Bill fulfilled his wartime duties overseas in the U.S. Navy during the Second World War. Following Bill's return from the war, they resumed their life together in Wellsville. Their marriage was blessed with three children:  William Thomas "Tom" Vossler and wife Barbara (Stevens) of Gettysburg, PA; John Robert Vossler and wife Martha (Balcom) of Wellsville who survive her and daughter Suzanne Elaine Vossler who passed-away at an early age in 1961. In addition to Suzanne, Barbara was predeceased by brothers, Robert, Burton and Richard Marsh.

Barbara and Bill were married for forty-six years until Bill's early passing in July, 1988. Together, in addition to their two sons and daughters-in-law, their legacy includes four grandsons, one great grandson and f  our great granddaughters. 

While raising their children, Barbara's work career included employment in Wellsville at Rudolph's Jewelry Store, Hamilton's Shoe Store and Worthington / Turbodyne where she was secretary to the plant superintendent. During those years she was a member of the Wellsville Business and Professional Women's Club.  

In later years, Barbara's hobbies included gardening, crocheting afghans, word search puzzles and her most favored activity of playing golf at the Wellsville Country Club with her many friends and teammates. She was past president of the Wellsville Ladies Golf Association.

In October, 1996, Barbara married Henry Siemaszko to whom she was married for sixteen years until Henry's passing in 2013.  From that marriage, three step-children were added to her legacy: daughter Jacqueline (Jackie) and husband Jerry Cyphert of Wasilla, AL; daughter Susan and husband Skip Yale of Sebastian, FL and son Tony and wife Barbara of Fredericksburg, VA.  This marriage also blessed Barbara with four additional grandsons and two great grandsons. 

While living in Wellsville most of her life, Barbara spent several winters in Florida with husband Henry at their home in Daytona Beach, FL.  After Henry's passing, she spent nearly two years with Tom and Barbara at their Gettysburg farm. In January 2015 she returned to Wellsville taking residence in the Manor Hills Assisted Living Residence and the excellent care of the staff there and loving attention of her family until her passing. 

Friends are invited to call on Saturday, March 16, 2019 from 2:00 to 3:00 pm at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Wellsville. A celebration of life ceremony will follow at 3:00 pm in church with Rev. Roger W. Marsh

Wellsville, NY - Roger W. Marsh, 81, of 19 Pine Street passed away unexpectedly on Sunday February 24, 2019 at home. He was born February 22, 1938 in Wellsville the son of the late Wayne and Sarah (Wheaton) Marsh.

Roger was a 1956 graduate of Wellsville High School, and was a former member of the Christian Temple. He served with U.S. Army from 1961 to 1963. He was formerly employed by Foss Brothers, and Burrous Furniture in Wellsville, Ensign-Brickford in Connecticut, and Collective Bank in New Jersey. He retired in 1996 and enjoyed visiting with his friends and watching television. 

He is survived by a sister, Susan Brague of DeLand, FL, a brother-in-law, James Darrin of Wellsville, two nieces, Kathy Porr of DeLand, FL, and Julie Darrin of Cheektowaga, four nephews, Kirk Brague of Greenville, RI, Scott Brague of Grand Junction, CO, Allen Darrin of Wellsville, and David Darrin of Dover, FL. He was predeceased in addition to his parents by a sister, Lois Darrin, and a brother-in-law, Dick Brague.

Jared S. Coleman

Wellsville, NY - Jared S. Coleman, 30, of 381 South Main Street lost his battle with addiction on Friday, March 1, 2019. He was born September 23, 1988, in Coundersport, PA, the son of Leo E. and Joan M. (Harrison) Coleman. 

Jared was raised in Whitesville and was a 2006 graduate of Whitesville High School. He was a graduate of the Alfred State College-School of Applied Technology, with a degree in Computer-aided design. He was employed at Whitesville Central School. He was a kind and caring person who loved his family and adored his nieces and nephews. He enjoyed sports, and was an avid Miami Dolphins, and Chicago Cubs fan.

He is survived by his Mother, Joan (Cleon Densmore) Coleman of Wellsville, his father, Leo (Lisa) Coleman of Whitesville, two brothers, Jason (Brandi) Coleman of Wellsville, and Justin (Alicia) Coleman of Whitesville, three step-brothers, Scott (Jessica) Buchholz of Whitesville, David Melissa Buchholz of Buffalo, and Naylor Densmore of Delaware, paternal grandparents, Leo and Jean Coleman of Rexville, maternal grandfather, Stewart (Eleanor) Harrison of Leesberg, FL, four beloved nieces and nephews, Lucas, Allison, Lorelai, Rhett Coleman, several aunts and uncles, and a special close friend, Jo'elle Cooper of Salamanca. He was predeceased by his maternal grandmother, Arlene Harrison.

Penny L. Prokopchuk

Wellsville, NY - Penny L. Prokopchuk, 58, passed away Thursday, February 28, 2019 at home surrounded by her daughters. She was born August 18, 1961, in Coudersport, PA, the daughter of the late Keith and Mary Jean (Stilson) Truax. 

Penny was raised in Ulysses and graduated from Northern Potter High School.  Employment opportunities over the years included Wellsville Central School as secretary, and sole proprietor of her own home daycare until Lyme Disease rendered her physically disabled.  She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, and a life member of the VFW Auxiliary.

Penny leaves to cherish her memories, 3 daughters, Jennifer (Andrew) George of Canandaigua, Carrie Baldwin and Kami White, both of Wellsville; 6 grandchildren, Erik,  Kendall, Kyle, and Kameron Baldwin, and Lauren and Owen George, and 2 sisters, Brenda (Marvin) Grover of Genesee, PA and Debra Graves of Middlebury Center, PA. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by sister, Carol Zwiefka.
