Ginnie L. Davis

Wellsville, NY - Ginnie L. Davis, 60, of 3356 Andover Road passed away on Monday, July 27, 2020 at Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester following a brief illness. She was born July 24, 1960 in Hornell, the daughter of Walter J. and Josephine (Bonham) Davis. 

Ginnie was raised in Wellsville and was a 1978 graduate of Wellsville High School. She formerly resided in Long Beach, CA, Andover, Hornell, Bolivar, and Harrison Valley, PA.

She started working at the Modern Diner in Wellsville while in high school and at various other times throughout her life. She also was employed at the Iron Kettle Restaurant in East Aurora, and Schoonover's Restaurant in Westfield, PA. In recent years she owned and operated, Rolling Hills Cafe in Bolivar. Ginnie was a very talented artist.  

She is survived by a son, Justin Davis of Wellsville, two brothers, James (Diane) Aldrich of Windsor and Martin Aldrich of Wellsville, two sisters, Roberta Prahler of Lockport, and Jo Anne (Mark Mattison) Fenske of Wellsville, a brother-in-law, James Bundschuh; 10 nieces and nephews, Jamie Lynn Prahler, James Aldrich Jr., Jessica Padua, Sara Leatso, Amanda Aldrich Payne, Donald Fenske, Dorothy Fenske, Brian Fenske, Dylan Davis and Tessa Bundschuh; two aunts, Betty (Carl) Neu of Hammondsport and Barbara McFall of Corning; and a special canine companion, Schooner. She was predeceased in addition to her parents by a sister, Julia Davis-Bundschuh, and a niece Donna Jo Prahler. 

The family would like to thank the Palliative Care Unit at Strong Memorial Hospital for  their wonderful support over the last few days.

Miranda M. Fanton

Almond, NY - Miranda M. Fanton age 38, of the Paige Road passed away quietly on Saturday July 25, at the University of Rochester Medical Center after an ongoing illness with complications. She was born on January 26, 1982 in Wellsville to Carl and Venus Flint Fanton.

Miranda graduated from Whitesville Central High School in 2001. She enjoyed listening to all kinds of music, especially the oldies, hunting, fishing, camping four wheeling and Double EE Rodeo Ranch. Miranda loved to play softball and couldn't say enough about her favorite  football team the Washington Redskins. She worked for ACES at Alfred State College as a supervisor in the cafeteria. She spoke fondly and often of “her kids” that worked under her and how much she loved working with them. Miranda especially enjoyed being with her friends and family on outings along with her nieces and nephews.

She is survived by her fiance` Anthony Fantauzzo; her children Mirissa, Gary and Wyatt Bliss of Ulysses, PA., her mother Venus (Jeff Peet) Nickerson of Wellsville and her father Carl (Kim) Fanton of Wellsville; her siblings, Regina (Chris Peacock) Kemp of Wellsville, a brother Mitchell (Sabrina) Fanton of Germany, Mari-kae (Matt Martin) Fanton , Danielle (Jeremy) Cavagna and Khristy Nickerson all of Wellsville; many grand kids, aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. She also survived by her four legged companion “ Max “.

Miranda was predeceased by her brother Carl Fanton Jr.

Due to Covid-19 the family is planning a private funeral service at the J.W. Embser Sons Funeral Home in Belmont with burial in Forest Hills Cemetery. A celebration of life will held her at a later date to be announced, via Facebook, for all of her many friends and family. Please plan on attending with stories and memories that will be cherished for ever. Any memorial contributions may be made to her family members or directly to the J.W. Eugene F. Coburn

Wellsville, NY – Eugene F. Coburn, age 82, passed away of a heart attack on Thursday, July 23, 2020 at Jones Memorial Hospital. He was born on July 26, 1937 in Chicago, Illinois.

Eugene graduated from Thornton Township High School in Harvey, IL. He has an Associate’s Degree from Purdue University in Indiana and was a member of the SME (Society of Manufacturing Engineers).  He retired from Air Preheater in Wellsville as a Manufacturing Engineer and prior to that at Whiting Corporation in Illinois. He served in the military from 1958 to 1960 and was stationed in Germany, where he met his wife, Gabriele. Prior to moving to Wellsville in 1986, Eugene and his family lived in Glenwood, Illinois.  Eugene and his wife loved to travel and spend time with family and friends.  They also loved to work on projects in the house and in the yard.  

Survivors include his wife of 60 years Gabriele Coburn, two daughters Elizabeth and Cynthia, sister Louise of Florida, sister-in-law Willette of Alabama, and many nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by both of his parents and his brother Kenneth Coburn.

Cheryl Ann “Tea Ta” Toscano (Battaglia)

Wellsville, NY - Cheryl Ann “Tea Ta” Toscano (Battaglia), was called home on July 11, 2020 at the age of 72, after a long illness. She was predeceased by her parents, Michael and Gloria Battaglia, sister Francine. Cheryl is survived by her husband Thomas Toscano, sister Mary (Steven) McCann, sons Robert (Joanne) Schlafer IV and Thomas (Tammy) Toscano, daughter Terri Ann Toscano. Grandchildren Gage, Alex, Christopher and Gabrielle. Many nieces and nephews, cousins and dear friends. She will be sadly missed and forever loved. All services for Cheryl will be held privately. Catherine “Cathy” Sorochin

Charlottesville, VA - Catherine “Cathy” Sorochin, 72, died July 6, 2020 after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born  June 29, 1948 and raised in Niagara Falls, NY.

Cathy graduated from Stella Niagara Seminary High School in 1966, and  Alfred State College in 1991, with an Associates Degree in Accounting. She was formerly employed at Kodak Inc., Steuben Trust Company,  Allen Dygert & Hauser, Inc., Jones Memorial Hospital, and Ionian’s Associates.

She was an active member of the Genesee Valley Chorus, Amity Lake Association, MADD, and the Wellsville Lioness Club. Her greatest loves were her family and friends, her pets, and her time at Amity Lake. She loved bird watching and her beloved kitty, Cleo.

She is survived by two sons,  Adam (Jennifer) Sorochin of Wellsville, NY and Craig Sorochin of Barboursville, VA., a proud Grandmother to Michael and Megan Sorochin, Scott McMorris and Gabrielle Sorochin,  sister to, James Patrick (Marlene) Beazley, as well as several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Ronald Sorochin in 2005.

Cathy had a beautiful spirit. She was known for her sweet disposition, her love of God, and tremendous emotional strength through all of her physical disabilities.

Carol K. Cline

Walworth, NY - Carol K. Cline, 75, of 1804 Plank Road passed away at home on Sunday, July 12, 2020 following a long struggle with Alzheimer's disease. She was born June 8, 1945 in Portland, ME, the daughter of the late Norman and Marjorie (Dow) Shear. On December 12, 1987, in Penfield, she married Dale O. Cline who survives.

Carol was raised in Wellsville and was a 1963 graduate of Wellsville High School. She resided in Oakdale, PA from 1971 to 1986, then moved to the Rochester area. She and Dale were members of HOG (Harley Owners Group) and the enjoyed boating and traveling, especially HOG rallies. 

Surviving in addition to her husband are three daughters, Terri (Bob) Barbour-Ducsay of Canonsburg, PA, Kelley Martin of Northampton, PA, and Michelle Evans of Jacksonville, FL, a step-son, Jeff (Jodi) Cline of Penfield, nine grandchildren, Christopher Barbour, RJ O'Leary Samantha Evans, Ryan O'Leary, Dr. Tyler Barbour, Brittney Ducsay, Meagan O'Leary, Joey Cline and Jordan Cline, a half-brother, Dan Kervin of North Kingstown, RI, as well as several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her brother, Kendall “Gary” Kervin.

The family would like to extend their appreciation to Deb Yackel for the loving care she offered Carol over the years.
