Wellsville, NY - Our community is full of broken hearts as we say goodbye to an incredible woman who played a supportive role in the lives of so many. Shawntelle Marie Santas, 48, of Wellsville, passed away February 5th after a strong battle with uterine sarcoma. She went peacefully, surrounded by dozens of her family and friends. Shawn was born to Leonard Kalkbrenner and the late Janet Kalkbrenner. In addition to her father, she is survived by her stepmother Lynda; her three younger siblings: Sheila, Sherry, and Lenny; her loving husband, J. Andrew; her four adoring children: Jared, Jaguar, Justin, and Sheyenne; and her two charming grandbabies.
Shawn spent her time helping others both in her professional life at Trapping Brook House, and in her personal life. Born to be a mother, she became one for more than just her four, taking in others as her own and giving them a loving second family to rely on. In much of her spare time, she wrote beautifully sarcastic pieces about her family and her journey. In lieu of flowers and cards, the family requests that donations be made in her name to one of her favorite places, the David A. Howe Public Library.
For any wishing to celebrate her life, there will be a gathering at the Wellsville Creative Arts Center on Friday, February 10th from 6-8 PM. Food and refreshments will be available as well as a stage to share our most valued memories and extend support to one another. Shawn will live on in all of those she has touched throughout her life.
