Marc L. Johnson, 65

Wellsville, NY – Marc L. Johnson, 65, went to be with Christ on Sunday, July 31, 2022. He passed suddenly and sadly at Buffalo General Hospital. Marc was born on July 31, 1957 in Corry, Pennsylvania to Edward and the late Lila (Short) Johnson. On August 8, 1981 he married Anita Dickerson, who survives.

Marc grew up in Galeton, Pennsylvania and graduated from Galeton High School in 1976. He earned his Bachelor’s degree from Houghton College in 1996. Marc loved to be active, he was an avid weight lifter and earned the title of “strong” grandpa. He spent many years upholstering furniture and restoring the interiors of classic cars. He loved the symbolism of restoration and often made reference to Christ restoring our souls. Marc had a career as a welder, retiring after 25 years of service, from Arvos in 2019. He loved being an active member of the Wellsville Bible Church where he served as an Elder of many years. After retirement he enjoyed taking RV adventures with his wife and spending quality time with his children and grandchildren. Marc lived an exemplary life modeling the love of Christ. He will be greatly missed!

Marc and Anita have 4 children together: Melissa Lynne Johnson who predeceased them, Jennifer Lynn Hinton, Sean Marc Johnson and Emily Ann Smith. He was the proud grandfather of 7 grandsons and 5 granddaughters. He is also survived by his dad Edward Johnson, 3 brothers, Kevin, Dave and Kent Johnson; as well as several nieces and nephews.

Friends are invited to call on Saturday, August 6, 2022 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm to the J.W. Embser Sons Funeral Home in Wellsville, 34 West State Street. His funeral will be held on Sunday, August 7, 2022 at 2 pm in the Wellsville Bible Church, 2896 Andover Road, with Reverend Dan Kenyon presiding. In lieu of flowers, please consider memorial donations to the Wellsville Bible Church. To leave online condolences please visit www.embserfuneralhome.com.

God has His perfect timing in taking us home, and while the shock and grief is so painful, it is with much comfort that we have great confidence in knowing Marc is with the Lord. I mostly have memories of him as my little cousin growing up…and the latest memory of his words spoken at his mom’s funeral. Please know of our prayer for you, Anita, your children, Uncle Ed, Kevin, David, and Kent. We are so reminded of how quickly this life can pass…and how we need to be assured of our eternal destiny with our God. We love you all!
