David C. Graves Sr., 85

Wellsville, NY - David C. Graves Sr., 85, of Wellsville, passed away on Thursday, November 12, 2020. He was born in Wellsville on October 8, 1935 the son of the late Richard and Eleanor Graves. In 1956 he married his wife, Ruth Henry. 

Dave was a 1954 Wellsville High School graduate. Upon graduation he enlisted in the United State Air Force; where he had an illustrious twenty-year career in which he earned the rank Senior Master Sargent. He loved serving his country and held many different assignments during his time in the service. He served in the Korean War and served two tours in Vietnam. He often talked about being assigned to the Air Commando's and his duty in Ethiopia training the local military. In fact, being station at McCord Air Force Base in Washington was how Dave met his wife Ruth. After retiring from the Air Force in 1974, Dave brought his family to his home, Allegany County – the place he loved. In February of 1977, he married Janice Dickerson. Dave then managed the Kwik Fill gas stations for twenty-six years. 

Dave is survived by: his daughter Vikki Kruger of Florida; his son Marty (Amy) Graves of South Dakota; eight grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by: His wife, Ruth; and his son Dave Jr. 

Due to the Covid-19 Pandemic, a graveside memorial service will be held at a later date. Dave will be buried in the Mount Hope Cemetery of Friendship, NY, next to his wife Ruth Graves. To leave online condolences please visit www.embserfuneralhome.com.
