Maureen D. Nagle

Wellsville, NY - Maureen D. Nagle, 90, a longtime resident of Wellsville, passed away on Friday, May 13, 2016 at Manor Hills. She was born August 27, 1925 in Bolivar, the daughter of the late John P. and Elizabeth (Crelly) Dougherty. On October 15, 1947 in Bolivar she married William W. Nagle who predeceased her April 22, 2004.

Maureen was raised in Bolivar and was a 1943 graduate of Bolivar High School. She was a Cadet Nurse and trained as a Registered Nurse at Sisters of Charity Hospital in Buffalo, while attending Canisius College. She was employed as a nurse in Olean, Wellsville, Buffalo, and was particularly proud of her service to the V.A. Hospital in the Bronx during WWII. She was the first woman in 45 years to hold public office in Bolivar, as a Trustee on the Village Board. 

She is survived by four daughters, Crelly A. Nagle of Atlanta, GA, Mary John Nagle of Buffalo, Deirdre E. (Thomas) McElroy of Port Royal, PA and Maureen S. (Gary) Pickett of Atlanta, GA, three grandchildren, three great grandchildren, as well as several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by two brothers, John F. and Richard A. Dougherty and one sister, Elizabeth Kornreich.

Friends are invited to call on Saturday, June 4, 2016 from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm at the J. W. Embser Sons Funeral Home Inc. in Wellsville.
