Ruby V. Burch


Alma, NY/Hornell, NY - Ruby V. Burch, 95, entered the gates of heaven on Thursday, November 1, 2012 to spend eternity with the Lord, who she faithfully served. She was born December 29, 1916 in Alma the daughter of Charles and Lina (Harrington) Dickerson. On May 23, 1933 in the Town of Willing she married John W. Burch who predeceased her November 23, 1997.

Ruby was raised in Alma and was an active member of the Alma United Methodist Church. She was an avid gardener and loved her family gatherings. 

She is survived by one son, William (Diane) Burch of Hornell, two daughters, Marjorie Woodkirk of Shinglehouse, PA and Bonita (Donald) Goodsell of Wake Forest, NC, seven grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren, eight great-great grandchildren, one brother, Carl (Lucille) Dickerson of Belmont, one sister, Charlotte Kellogg of Shinglehouse, PA and several nieces & nephews. She was predeceased by three brothers, Earl, Arvis and Orville Dickerson.  

Friends are invited to call Saturday, (November 3, 2012) from 1:00 to 3:00 pm at the J. W. Embser Sons Funeral Home Inc. in Wellsville. The funeral will follow at 3:00 pm in the funeral home with Pastor Roger Downer presiding. Burial will be in East Sharon, PA Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to the Activities Fund at Updyke's Willow Ridge Quality Care Facility, 131 Hornell Street, Hornell, NY 14843.     Our condolences to all of Rubys loved ones. I sure can remember her in the Alma church. She was a wonderful person. She will be sadly missed by all. Aleta Hardy Tenney and family

  2. So sorry and saddened to learn of Ruby's passing, and my sympathies go out to her family and friends. I didn't know Ruby well, but whenever I saw her at Updyke's she always had a smile for me -- and then I would smile, because she was so sweet. My mother, who lived down the hall from Ruby, was also very fond of her. I will truly miss seeing her!

  3. So sorry to miss the family at Aunt Ruby's funeral, but so looking forward to walking the street of gold with Aunt Ruby someday! Prayers of comfort to the family and to God's glory!
