Lloyd B. Moyer

Wellsville, NY - Lloyd B. Moyer, 90, of 59 Martin Street died Saturday, June 19, 2010 at the Wellsville Highland Health Care Center…He was born October 6, 1919 in Shawmut, PA the son of the late Mark and Alice (Mann) Moyer. On July 9, 1947 in DuBois, PA he married Mary Alice Durkin who predeceased him of January 19, 2005.

Lloyd was raised in Brockway PA and was a graduate of Brockway High School. He then served with the U.S. Army during WW II. He was employed as the meat manager at the A & P Grocery Store in Wellsville. After he retired he was a bartender for the Brunswick Hotel, PJ's Pub and the Moose Lodge. He was a member of the Morrison Hayes American Legion Post 702, the Frank B. Church Post 2530 VFW and the Wellsville Moose Lodge # 601. He never missed any of his Children's many activities and went to as many of his grandchildren's games and activities as he could. He loved to see the Yankees win and he loved to see the Yankees lose. He loved the Yankees!

He is survived by a daughter, Rose Marie Scott of Alma, two sons, Richard (Jody) Moyer of Erie, PA and Mark (Susan) Moyer of Scio, seven grandchildren, Robert (Kimberly) Scott, Lyndi Scott, Joshua (Katie) Moyer, Justin (Meghan) Moyer, Elizabeth (Brian) Gamache, Katherine Moyer and he fiancé Scott Miller and Christopher Moyer, four great grandchildren, Aliceson Scott, Olivia Moyer, Brady Moyer, Lily Miller and his little feline buddy, Paka. He was predeceased by a son-in-law, Robert Scott, an infant grandson Scott, two brothers, John and Lyle Moyer, two sisters, Pearl Fleming and Olie Fremer and one nephew, Tom Fleming.

Friends are invited to call on Wednesday from 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 pm and Thursday from 10:00 to 10:30 am at the J. W. Embser Sons Funeral Home Inc., 34 W. State Street in Wellsville. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday (June 24, 2010) at 11:00 am at the Immaculate Conception Church in Wellsville with Monsignor Vincent Becker as celebrant. Burial with military honors will follow at Sacred Heart Cemetery. Memorial donations are suggested to the SPCA Serving Allegany County, Highland Health Care Resident's Council or the Scio Library.   1. My sincere condolences to the Moyer Family. Both my parents had the pleasure of working with Lloyd at the A&P. The thought very highly of him. And I recall the countless Little League games the family attended along with my own family. His height set him apart at church, at least when I was an altar boy along with his sons. It was our family pleasure knowing him.
