William H. Gordon, 91

Wellsville, NY – William H. Gordon, 91, of 73 Hills Street, passed away on Saturday, October 7, 2023, at the Hart Comfort House with his family at his side. He was born October 28, 1931, in Wellsville, the son of the late Arthur J. and Carlotta (Coogan) Gordon. On June 9, 1973, in Belmont, he married Barbara Haney, who survives. 

Bill was a 1948 graduate of Wellsville High School. He was first employed at Bausch & Lomb in Wellsville, before enlisting with the United States Navy. He served in the Navy from 1951 to 1954 aboard the U.S.S. Coral Sea. Upon his honorable discharge he began his career as a Senior Land Agent for Consolidated Gas Corporation of Westfield, PA for 33 years, retiring in 1989. He was a life member of the Wellsville Elks Lodge 1495, and the Morrison Hayes Post 702 American Legion in Wellsville.

In addition to his wife Barb, he is survived by a son, Damon Davis and his fiancĂ©, Danielle Osgood, both of Wellsville, two granddaughters, Elaini and Margaret, great-grandson, Cooper, sister, Mary Moll of Macedon; a daughter-in-law, Dawn M. Avnet of Scio, as well as several nieces and nephews, including Peg Peet of Wellsville, who was very close to her uncle Bill over the years. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a son, Gary Allen Davis, two brothers, Arthur and James Gordon, and a nephew, James Gordon. 

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, October 14, 2023, at 11:00 am in the Immaculate Conception Church, 36 Maple Avenue in Wellsville.The burial with full military honors will be in Stannards Cemetery.
