James D. McConnell

Wellsville, NY - James D. McConnell, age 81, of the Hallsport Road passed away at the Highland Park Rehabilitation Center on Tuesday, August 20, 2019. He was born on June 28, 1938 in Wellsville to David and Luella Cline McConnell. On June 3, 1958 in Wellsville he married the former Mary Kemp who predeceased him on July 14, 2017.

James was a machinist for Dresser Rand and had been a member of the Machinist Union. He was an avid fisherman who played lead guitar for several local bands including “Lenny Waite and the LBJs”.

Survivors include his daughter Kim M. Foster of Wellsville; 3 grandsons, Cory (Shauna)  McConnell of Wellsville, Derek Fagan of Wellsville and Levi (Amber) Fagan of Willey Lake, SC.; 2 great grand daughters, Ashlynn McConnell and Corianna McConnell;a great grandson ,Rylan Fagan; his twin sister Janet Lamphier of Wellsville; several nieces and nephews and his grand dog “Chevy”.

James was predeceased by a son James D. McConnell and a sister Carol Winans.

There will be no prior services and a private burial service by the family will take place in Stannards Cemetery. Memorials James's name may be made to the MS Foundation or to the charity of the donor's choice. To leave online condolences please visit

  4. Not sure if family will see this as its months late, but I just want to let the family know how much of an amazing man Jim was. I was one of his caretakers at Highland, and he was one of my favorites. His jokes and smiling face will always be remembered. I miss him dearly still and Highland just isnt the same without him. Rest in peace Jim!
