SPRING HILL, FL - Elizabeth Davie Burner Dickerson, 96, of Spring Hill, died peacefully on Saturday, December 9, 2017. She was born June 6, 1921 to Paul and Beatrice (Smith) Davie in Wellsville, NY where she lived into her seventies until she retired in Florida.
Elizabeth was a long time businesswoman in Wellsville, owning Davie's Department Store. Davies was founded by her grandfather, Charles Eugene Davie and was originally located in Bolivar. Later it moved to Wellsville, where it was owned by her father, Paul Davie, and later by Elizabeth. As a women and children's clothing merchant, she was active in the Wellsville Chamber of Commerce. She was a member of the Jones Memorial Hospital Auxiliary, Holly Twig and Professional Business Women's Club. She was also a member of the Disciples of Christ Church. She enjoyed bridge and oil painting but especially enjoyed china painting. In her later life she took up counted cross-stitch, producing over two dozen masterpieces. She enjoyed traveling, visiting five continents and many states in her lifetime.
She is survived by her daughter, Connie Burner Henry, three granddaughters, Laura (Elbert) Nieves, Rebecca Henry and Kristin Henry, and a great granddaughter Lily Nieves. She is also survived by three step children, Brian (Ninetta) Dickerson, Barbara Petraznik (Gary Edwards), and David (Patrice) Dickerson, and several step grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her parents, her first husband, Alvin Burner, her second husband Chester Dickerson, her sisters, Ruth (George) Smith, Eleanor (William) Yerrick, and a step daughter Christine Dickerson (Paul Turner).
Friends are invited to a memorial service on Monday, July 2, 2018 at 10:00 am in the Grace United Church, 289 N. Main Street in Wellsville, NY, with Rev. Carol Stewart presiding.
