William R. "Bill" Nelson


Wellsville, NY - William R. "Bill" Nelson, 86, of 4192B Bolivar Road died Monday, April 9, 2012 at Jones Memorial Hospital following a brief illness. He was born December 24, 1925 in Lackawanna and was raised at Father Baker's Home. He served with the U. S. Army and was a veteran of the Korean War. He was employed as a counselor at Father's Baker's in Lackawanna and later at Republic Steel in South Buffalo. He will be remembered as an accomplished harmonica player by his many friends at Manor Hills, where he would often play for birthdays and special occasions. He had a wonderful sense of humor and related several personal stories about Father Baker and the Sisters at Our Lady of Victory. 

Friends are invited to call on Friday from 8:00 to 8:45 am at the J. W. Embser Sons Funeral Home Inc. in Wellsville. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday, April 13, 2012 at 9:00 am in the Immaculate Conception Church in Wellsville with Rev. Sean DiMaria as Celebrant. Burial will be in Forest Hills Cemetery in Belmont. Memorial donations may be made to the Manor Hills Residence Council or Baker Victory Services, 780 Ridge Road, Lackawanna, NY 14218.
