Belmont, NY - Donald Paul Frungillo of 108 Greenwich street passed away on Friday, February 18, 2011, at the Jones Memorial Hospital surrounded by his family. He was born on December 20, 1919 in Belmont to Thomas and Amelia (Tarantine) Frungillo. On December 7, 1951, he married Dorothy Sprague in Bath who survives.
Don attended Belmont Central School and served in the US Army. Following his army service, he worked construction all of his life and retired after over 25 years with A.L. Blades and Sons. As a side business, he was licensed in explosive demolition and general contracting.
Don was a lifelong resident of Belmont where he and Dorothy raised a family that he cherished. His life centered around his family and friends and being outside. He loved camping, hunting, fishing and family picnics. He was a life member of the American Legion Post # 808 in Belmont.
Surviving besides his wife: 4 sons, Donald (Donna) Frungillo of Belmont, Jim (Diane) Frungillo of Belmont, Steve (Melinda) Frungillo of West Almond and Dan Frungillo of Belmont; 3 daughters, Kathy (Lon) Hamlin of Wellsville, Mary (Rich) Tomak of Wellsville and Colleen Feness of Florida; 2 sisters in law, Josephine Frungillo and Jane Lockwood; 13 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren were also a special part of his life and thoughts for the many nieces and nephews.
Don was predeceased by: 5 brothers Sabato, Louis, Joe, Orlando and Albert; 2 sisters, Anna and Helena. Also, his son Craig in 1985 and a granddaughter, Paula (Frungillo) Budinger in 2009.
Friends are invited to call on Monday, February 21, 2011, from 2-4 and 7-9 pm at the J.W. Embser Sons Funeral Home, 17 Schuyler Street, in Belmont. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday at 11 AM in the Funeral Home with Father Sean DiMaria presiding. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery and memorials may be made to the Amity Rescue Squad, the Immaculate Conception School or the donor’s choice.
