Olean, NY - Kenneth J. Bernard of Billington Avenue passed away at Olean General Hospital on Friday February 19, 2010. He was born on October 22, 1919 in Belfast to John C. and Ruth I. (McCarty) Bernard. On October 18, 1941 in Cuba he married Helen A. Cummins who predeceased him on February 14, 2007.
Ken graduated from Belfast Central School and was a former resident of Belfast, Zephyrhills, Florida and Wellsville. Ken was a farmer and a carpenter that later was The Highway Superintendent for the Town of Belfast and retired from the Allegany County Highway Department in road sign maintenance. He had been a member of the St. Mary's Catholic Church in Belmont.
Survivors include: two sons, Ronald J. Bernard of Olean and Loren D. (Sue) Bernard of Ceres; 4 grandchildren, Mark (Kate) Bernard, Brian Bernard, Troy (Johanna) Bernard and Kimberly Bernard Sutton; 2 step grandchildren, Eric and Josh Hurd and 6 great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
Friends are invited to call on Sunday February 21 from 5 to 7pm in the J.W. Embser Sons Funeral Home in Belmont and on Monday from 11 am to 1pm. His funeral service will be held in the funeral home following calling hours at 1 pm with Deacon Frank Pasquale presiding. Burial will take place in St. Mary's Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Olean General Hospital Foundation at 515 Main Street, Olean, NY 14760

paula kay willis was a good grandmother, mother, daughter, wife, and friend. i just wish she was still here today. the sad thing is that 2 minutes after i got out her room in the hospital she died. i miss her so much. i am her adopted grandaughter. when my mom was in labor she stood right there with her. i loved her so much. she was whey to young to die. i love her sooo much.
