Vincent Ryan Martinelli, 36

Alfred, NY – Vincent Ryan Martinelli, 36, of Glen Streetdied unexpectedly on Thursday, September 12, 2024, shortly after arrival, at F.F. Thompson Hospital in Canandaigua. He was born on March 22, 1988, in Blacksburg, VA, the son of Steven J. and Joyce A. (Furey) Martinelli. 

Vincent was a 2006 graduate of Wellsville High School; he continued his education, first earning a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Alfred State College, and then his master’s degree in communication from St. Bonaventure University. He was previously employed by Allegany Arc, and wrote articles for the Wellsville Sun. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus Council 919 and was affiliated with the Immaculate Conception Church in Wellsville

He is survived by his parents, Steven and Mary Martinelli of Andover, and Joyce A. Furey of Olean; a brother, Steven R. Blaske of Alleganysister, Crystal Blaske-Cooneyof Alleganystep-siblings, Nikki Pensyl and Richard Pensyl, both of Wellsville; maternal grandfather, John Furey of San Diego; as well as several aunts, uncles, and cousins. He was predeceased by his brother Matthew Martinelli in 2011; paternal grandparents, John and Margaret Martinelli; and maternal grandmother, Peggy Furey. 

Friends are invited to call, in casual dress, on ThursdaySeptember 19, 2024, from 11:00am to 1:00 pm at the Basilica of St. Mary of the Angels, 202 South Union Street, Olean, NY. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 1:00 pm in the Basilica.     Ryan was a great guy. I’m very sorry for your loss. I’m was saddened beyond measure when I learned the boys were diagnosed with Duchenne’s Muscular Dystrophy. I hoped and prayed for a miracle for each of them. I think Ryan was that miracle! He did so much in his short 36 year life. Attending college for a 2- year degree is a a HUGE accomplishment for someone in a wheelchair. Ryan did that and more!
    He also opened ( literally) the doors for many others living in a wheelchair.
    He will be missed by many, including me.

  2. With much sympathy on your loss of your son. I remember him when he was the small boy at the office, what a success he made with his short life and will be missed greatly. Sending hugs Gayle Clark
