Tage Nielsen, 80

Vero Beach, FL – Tage Nielsen80, passed away Thursday, February 8, 2024, at Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester, NY following a brief illness. He was born on January 27, 1944, in Aalborg, Denmark the son of the late Frank and Marie Nielsen. He moved to the United States in 1950 and became a U.S. Citizen in 1958. On January 29, 1966, in Belmont, NY he married Jeanne Pierce, who survives.

Tage graduated from Charlotte High School and SUNY Brockport where he received a B.S. in English. He taught English at East High School and Spencerport Junior High School. He left teaching to work at Eastman Kodak where he retired in 1992. In 2000 he and his wife relocated to Vero Beach, Florida, where they lived for twenty-four years, returning to Rochester each year to spend the summer months.

Tage will be greatly missed by his wife of fifty-eight years, Jeanne Nielsen, and his two sons, Kirk (Kathleen) Nielsen of Greer, SC, and Karl Nielsen of Pittsford, NY, as well as his grandchildren, Alex and Erik of SC, and Katherine and David of NY, his two sisters, Ulla Christensen of Copenhagen, Denmark, and Tove (Rob) Dettori of The Villages, FL, twelve nieces and nephews, a sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Linda and Ron Bigelow of Orlando, FL, and a brother-in-law, Karl Pierce of Hornell, NY. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a sister, Rita DiMaggio, and a brother Erik Nielsen.

Friends are invited to call on Saturday, February 17, 2024, at 10 am to Faith Baptist Church of North Chili. His funeral will follow at 10:30 am.
