Alan Gelser, 60

Wellsville, NY – Alan Gelser, 60, of East Fassett passed away on Monday, November 6, 2023, unexpectedly at home. He was born on December 16, 1962, in Cuba, NY, the son of the late Orlo S. and Marleah L. (James) Gelser.

Alan was raised in Belmont, graduating from Belmont High School in 1981. Upon graduating he started his career at Friendship Dairies, for whom he worked for many years. While working for the dairy, he also worked in the lumber industry, logging. After his time with Friendship Dairies, he worked in construction as a Laborer for Hunts Construction of Belmont. Outside of work he was an avid outdoorsman, loving to fish and hunt. 

He is survived by: four children, Kyle (Alyson) Gelser of Friendship, Kaleb (Angela) Gelser of California, Fred (Ashley) Elias of Wellsville, and Dr. Amanda (Dylan) Johnson of Arkansas; seven grandchildren, Brayden Elias, Bailey Elias, Grayson Gelser, Easton Gelser, Myla Johnson, Atlas Johnson, and Ashton Gelser; siblings, Duane (Terry) Gelser of Birdsell, Janet (Allen) Ives of Wellsville, Susan (Gary) Pollock of Englewood, FL, Kenneth (Marsha) Gelser of Belmont, Laura (Rick) Jordan of Belmont, and Christina (Mike) Christen of Holland, NY; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, Orlo Gelser and Marleah Ritter; stepfather, George Ritter; niece, Ashley Lynn Gelser, and brother, Ron Gelser.

Friends are invited to a Celebration of Life on Sunday, November 12, 2023, from 2 – 6 pm at the Belmont American Legion, 29 Schuyler Street, Belmont, NY 14813.
