After completing his education, he enlisted in the United States Air Force, for whom he served for four years. He would eventually retire from the Allegany County Office of the Aging in 2007. He was very proud of his Catholic faith, he was devout, a member of Holy Family in Belmont, and enjoyed teaching others . Outside of work, he was an avid spectator of Formula One racing, who enjoyed trips to Watkins Glenn. He especially enjoyed working at home with pottery in his own studio. He will be remembered as being well read in philosophy, theology, and as an introspective man.
