Wellsville, NY - Regina Oleksiak was born in Cheektowaga NY to Stephen and Agnes (Rogacki) Kwiatkowski. She was baptized and was a devout member of St John Gualbert's Roman Catholic Church. She graduated from Immaculate Heart of Mary Academy in 1940 and went on to Bryant Business School graduating in 1942. Jean was a lifelong bookkeeper enjoying the certainty of numbers. In 1946 Jean married Richard F. Oleksiak and they eventually settled in Amherst, NY where they raised three children. Jean gave a great deal of her time to many local charities. They were able to travel extensively throughout the world and in doing so earned more than one Pan Am Circumnavigation award. Jean moved to Wellsville in 1973 and eventually to Olean NY. In 2015 she moved into Manor Hills after a bad fall. She continued to work until 94, remarkably, and was loved by the customers and vendors of Genesee Metal, Inc.
