Wellsville, NY - Richard H. “Dick” Parker, age 86, of Center Drive passed away at home on Tuesday, May 31,2016. He was born on October 21, 1929 in Albany to Mason G. and Elizabeth O’Hara Parker.
On August 27, 1955 in Albany he married Shirley Guiry who survives him.
Dick was a veteran of the US Navy serving from 1951 until 1955. He graduated from Cornell University in 1959 and later became the Director of Personnel at Dresser Rand from 1973 until 1991. Dick volunteered at the Habitat for Humanity for several years, was involved in mentoring local students, coached youth sports, and created the Parker Academic Scholarship at Wellsville High School. Dick was a member of the Immaculate Conception Church, an avid reader, and a dedicated family man who enjoyed racket sports and golf. His greatest pleasures were spending time with his family and friends and mentoring young people.
Survivors include his wife Shirley; his children, Patrick (Cyndi) Parker, Paul (Janet) Parker, Dean (Lorri) Parker and his son in law Mark Raeside all of Rochester; his grandchildren, Joseph Parker, Zachary Parker, Aaron Parker, Allison Raeside, Emma Raeside, Mason Parker and Jackson Parker all of Rochester; His sisters, Alice Begley of Albany and Marjorie Van Deusen of Castleton on the Hudson; several nieces and nephews.
Dick was predeceased by his parents; his sister Elizabeth Wiest; his daughter Kathleen Raeside and his grandson Michael Parker.
Friends are invited to call on Friday, June 3, from 5 pm until 8 pm at the J.W. Embser Sons Funeral Home in Wellsville. On Saturday a Memorial Mass will be celebrated at 10 am in the Immaculate Conception Church of Wellsville. Memorials in Dick’s name may be made to either the David A.
