Wellsville, NY - Ida "Joyce" Thompson, 80, of 17 East Hanover Street passed away on Thursday, January 12, 2012 at Jones Memorial Hospital with her family at her side. She was born January 3, 1932 in Canisteo the daughter of the late Thomas and Alma (York) Taylor. On October 3, 1953 in Wellsville she married Jeffrey T. Thompson who survives.
Joyce resided in Canisteo and Greenwood until her family moved to Wellsville in 1940. She was a 1949 graduate of Wellsville High School. She was formerly employed at Sanbourn Pharmacy and Coats Drug Store in Wellsville. She was a life member of the Wellsville Volunteer Fire Department Auxiliary.
Surviving in addition to her husband are two daughters, Ellen (Karl) Perkins of Andover and Valerie Wells of Alden, four grandchildren and several nieces & nephews. She was predeceased by one brother, Thomas D. Taylor and one sister, Marian Stephens.
Friends are invited to a memorial service on Saturday, January 28, 2012 at 11:00 am at the J. W. Embser Sons Funeral Home Inc. in Wellsville with Rev. Stan Scoville presiding.
