Wellsville, NY - Edward W. Piper of Moonlight Drive passed away on Monday, March 28, 2011, at the Wellsville Manor Care Center. He was born on July 26, 1923 to Raymond and Helen Rosa Piper. On August 20, 2001 in Olean he married Paulena LaPolt who survives.
Edward was a former resident of Olean and Asheville North Carolina. He graduated from Olean High School and attended Grove City College. He was a veteran of the US Army serving during both WWII and the Korean War. Edward was a rural mail carrier for over 20 years in the Olean Area and enjoyed music. He sang with the both the Olean Barber Shoppers and the Asheville Barber Shoppers and wrote his own music. Edward attended the First United Methodist Church in Wellsville.
Surviving beside his wife; a daughter, Charlene Metcalf of Jamestown and a grandson, Raymond VanBuskirk; 3 step daughters, Patty (Gary) McFadden Greenstein of Olean, Mary McFadden of Olean and Denise (Joe) McFadden Kubic of Allegany; 2 step sons, Danny McFadden of Endicott and Dennis (Rita) McFadden of Olean; many step grand and great grand children; several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by: his first wife Isabel in 1976 and his second wife Catherine McFadden in 2001; a son, Raymond "Pete" Piper; a step daughter, Peggy McFadden Crandall; a sister, Lorraine Lewis.
Friends are invited to call on Friday, April 1, 2011, from 11 am to 12 noon at the J.W. Embser Sons Funeral Home, 34 West State Street, Wellsville, New York. His funeral service will be held at 12 noon in the funeral home with Rev. Jerry Ward presiding. Burial will take place in Pleasant Valley Cemetery.
