Lucille M. Potter

Wellsville, NY - Lucille M. Potter, 94, passed away on Friday, September 2, 2011, at the Wellsville Manor Care Center. She was born on April 29, 1917 in the Town of Ward to John C. and Catherine (Reynolds) Baker. On August 9, 1952, she married Arden E. Potter at the Blessed Sacrament Church in Andover. He predeceased her on November 3, 1983.

Lucille graduated from Alfred High School, moved to Wellsville and, over the years worked at several local businesses including: Creteko's Candy Store, Sandborn Drugstore, Cameo Restaurant and Loblaws. Lucille was a member of the Immaculate Conception Church in Wellsville. She also was a member of the Community Center where she enjoyed playing bingo and cards. Lucille loved to bowl, but one of her greatest joys was music and dancing, especially at Breezy Point Campground. She will always be remembered for her liveliness.

Survivors include: a son John (Gwen) Potter of Wellsville; 3 grandchildren, Heather K.(Kevin) Hoffman of Chantilly, VA., Erik J. Potter and Ridge C. Potter, both of Wellsville; 2 great grandchildren, Isabella Potter and Xavier Potter as well as several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband Arden, Lucille was predeceased by: a brother, Walter Baker; 3 sisters Florence Baker, Ruth Baker and Loretta (Robert) Baker.

Friends are invited to call on Tuesday, September 6, 2001, from 2-4 and 7-9 pm at the J.W. Embser Sons Funeral Home in Wellsville. A Prayer service will be held on Wednesday at the Funeral Home at 10:30 am followed by a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 11 am at the Immaculate Conception Church. Father Thomas Roman will be the Celebrant and burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery. Memorials in Lucille's name may be made to the charity of the donor's choice.
