Donald W. Vossler

Wellsville, NY - Donald W. Vossler of 2724 Miller Road passed away on Friday, March 4, 2011, at Jones Memorial Hospital. He was born on January 18, 1927 to Karl and Bertha Brandes Vossler. On April 19, 1954 in Wellsville he married Janice Shultz who survives.

Don graduated from Wellsville High School in 1943. He later went into partnership with his dad and brother on the family dairy farm. Don was drafted into the US Army in 1955. From 1968 until 1991 he was employed at Dresser Rand in Wellsville. Don never stopped working and stayed busy in retirement. He enjoyed helping his son on the farm and put his work ethic and carpenter skills to task as a volunteer for Habitat for Humanity. Don was a proud and active member of the Trinity Lutheran Church. He could be found most every day at his church working on the grounds or working on anything that needed to be done. He was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Men's Club and was a former member of the Allegany County Farm Bureau.

Surviving besides his wife Janice; 2 sons, Daniel (Rosemary) Vossler of Wellsville and Timothy (Tonya) Vossler of Perry, GA.; 2 daughters, Deborah (Bill) Susie of Severn, MD., and Mary (Chris) Minges of West Henrietta; his five grandchildren, Justin and Kayla Vossler, Jenna and Ryan Minges and Anna Marie Susie. He is also survived by his brother Lawrence (Margery) Vossler of Wellsville and a sister Marilyn (Jack) Palmer of Avon Park, FL. Don is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

Don was predeceased by a son Steven and a brother Walter (Florence) Vossler.

Friends are invited to call on Saturday, March 12, 2011, from 10 am to 11 am at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Wellsville. His funeral service will be held at 11 am in church with Pastor Robert Morris presiding. Burial will take place in Woodlawn Cemetery and memorials may be made to the Trinity Lutheran Church. Jean Elizabeth Capizzi

Wellsville, NY - Jean Elizabeth Capizzi of the Hallsport Road passed away on Wednesday, March 02, 2011, at the Jones Memorial Hospital. She was born on February 11, 1925 in Warsaw to Marlin Remington and Mabel Estelle Calkins Bassett Sr. On March 20, 1971 she married Salvatore Capizzi who predeceased her on February 23, 2008.

Jean was raised in Warsaw and for 30 years lived in Angelica. She was a WAC during WWII serving as a dental hygienist and was a member of the American Legion.

Survivors include: 2 daughters, Jela Hagerman of Perry and Marla (Gary) Wilkerson of Batavia; a son, Eric (Jennifer) Hagerman of Florida; 9 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; a step son and care giver Leonard (Maureen) Capizzi of Wellsville.

Jean was predeceased by a brother Marlin Remington Bassett Jr. and a son Gerald Lawrence Hagerman

Kathleen Finn Manion

Wellsville, NY - Kathleen Finn Manion, 91, formerly of 186 South Brooklyn Avenue passed away Sunday evening, (February 27, 2011) at Highland Health Care Center in Wellsville. She was born March 9, 1919 in Olean, the daughter of Charles Leo and Theresa Irene (Shaw) Finn. On June 7, 1941 at the Immaculate Conception Church in Wellsville, she married Gilbert Joseph Manion who predeceased November 1, 1992.

Kathleen had a love of theater and was proud to be one of the original Nancy Howe Players, performing in the first play at the Nancy Howe Auditorium, as an office attendant in "Wisdom Teeth" July 1, 1937. She was a 1936 graduate of Wellsville High School, a member of the Immaculate Conception Church, the Altar and Rosary Society, Catholic Women's Club, Bishop's Committee and the Lord's Housekeepers. She was first employed as a secretary for the Graham Insurance Agency in Wellsville and in 1961 became an executive secretary for the Sales Department of Worthington/Turbodyne Corporation, retiring in October of 1983.

She was a loving mother to her immediate and extended family, and is survived by her son, Patrick (Donna) Manion of Bow, NH, her daughter, Kathleen Ann Manion of Wellsville, three grandchildren, Maria (Sean) Casey and Theresa Manion both of Burbank, CA and John Manion of Bow, NH, two great-grandchildren, Helena and Gillian Casey, a sister, Rita Ayala of Levittown, NY as well as several nieces & nephews. She was predeceased by a grandson, Michael Manion, four brothers, William, Joseph, Leo and Michael Finn and two sisters, Mary Bordonaro and infant sister, Josephine.

As a young child Kathleen displayed vitality for life as noted by the nuns in grade school who often stated, "She may be little but, Oh My!" In her later years "Kay" as many knew her, loved to tend to her beautiful flower gardens and enjoyed watching the birds at her bird feeder. Kathleen's family wishes to express sincere gratitude to the entire staff at Highland Health Care for the compassionate attention bestowed upon their mother.

Richard A. Graves III

Wellsville, NY - Richard A. Graves III, 58, of 3455 Jack Bridge Road died unexpectedly on Saturday, February 26, 2011 shortly after arrival at Waccamaw Community Hospital in Murrells Inlet, SC. He was born February 5, 1953 in Wellsville the son of the late Richard and Elaine (Bennett) Graves. On August 29, 1998 in Scio he married Roxanne M. Tierney who survives.

Dick was a lifelong resident of Wellsville and a 1971 graduate of Wellsville High School. He was formerly employed at Dresser-Rand Corporation in Wellsville and Olean. He began his 25 year career at Wellsville Central School as assistant Superintendent of Buildings and Grounds and was the Superintendent of Buildings and Grounds at the time of his death. He was a charter member and past president of Trout Unlimited where he was instrumental in the construction of the Genesee River handicapped access platform at Island Park in Wellsville. He was a former Wellsville Little League coach, a former member of the Wellsville rod and Gun Club and enjoyed hunting and fishing.

Surviving in addition to his wife, is one daughter, Jennifer (Bobby) Budinger and one son, Jesse (Magin) Graves both of Wellsville, three grandchildren, Emily and Annabelle Budinger and Riley Graves, two step grandchildren, Catherine Budinger and Autumn Bledsoe, three sisters, Dixie (Phil) Hyer of Wellsville, Karen (Jeff) Briggs of Andover and Beth (Kris) Carlin of Scio and two brothers, Dan Graves of Vaccaville, CA and Dean (Sondra) Graves of Mount Savage, MD, his former wife, Patty (Gary) Cook of Wellsville and several nieces & nephews.

Ella M. Duell

Wellsville, NY - Ella M. Duell, 82, of 4350 Fords Brook Road North Branch passed away on Sunday, February 27, 2011 at Jones Memorial Hospital. She was born April 1, 1928 in Rexville the daughter of Alex and Grace (Rockwell) Bessette. On April 25, 1945 in Wellsville she married Vivian "Viv" Duell who predeceased her January 2, 2005.

Ella was a former resident of Spencerport and was a 25 year employee of General Motors in Rochester. She was a member of the Women of the Moose, Chapter 248, the VFW Ladies Auxiliary # 2530 and the American Legion Auxiliary # 702. She enjoyed her membership in the Country Heart Cloggers, was a member of the Immaculate Conception Church in Wellsville and was active on several committees and organizations within the greater Wellsville Community.

She is survived by a daughter, Nancy (Larry) Sennett of Ocala, FL, a son, Thomas L. (Mary Ellen) Duell of San Jose, CA, five grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, two sisters, Margaret Barber and Isabelle Jackson both of North Chili, several loving nieces & nephews, four special friends, Charlene and Roy Goodliff, Betty Duell and Nina Mitchell all of Wellsville. She was predeceased by a son, Michael A. Duell, a sister, Veronica "Bonnie" Wilson and a brother, Leo Bessette.

Thomas Alaimo

Wellsville, NY - Thomas Alaimo, 90, of 4192B Bolivar Road died unexpectedly on Wednesday, February 23, 2011 shortly after arrival at Jones Memorial Hospital in Wellsville. He was the son of the late Anthony and Florence (Ogliolora) Alaimo. He was a veteran of WWII, was formerly employed at the Rochester Open Air Market and had resided for many years at Manor Hills in Wellsville.

He is survived by a brother, Alphonse Alaimo, and was predeceased by a sister, Frances Spezio. A service with military honors will be conducted on Monday, February 28, 2011 at 10:00 am at the J. W. Rachael A. Pendleton

Wellsville, NY - Rachael A. Pendleton, 83, of 4192A. Bolivar Road died on Tuesday, February 22, 2011 shortly after arrival at Jones Memorial Hospital. She was born on May 30, 1927 in Wellsville, the daughter of Harry and Ethel (Morehouse) Pendleton.

Rachael was a former long time resident of 204 Maple Avenue and had resided at Manor Hills for six years. She was an active member of the Allegany County Association for the Blind and was a Jehovah Witness. She enjoyed walking the streets of Wellsville and will be remembered for her sweet and gentle nature.

She is survived by several nieces & nephews, great nieces & nephews and great-great nieces & nephews. She was predeceased by her beloved sister, Roberta Campbell in 2005.
