Ronald L. Morrison

Scio, NY - Ronald L. Morrison, 76, of 3894 Weinhauer Hill Road died on Tuesday, June 8, 2010 at Jones Memorial Hospital in Wellsville with his children at his side. He was born March 14, 1934 in Wellsville the son of the late Lowell and May (Babcock) Morrison. On October 10, 1952 in Scio he married the love of his life, Barbara Jackson who predeceased him on February 15, 2007.

Ron was raised in Wellsville and worked on dairy farms until his marriage. He later was employed at Harrison Radiator in Lockport, Wellsville Burial Case, The Wellsville Daily Reporter, Rochester Button Company in Wellsville and retired from Dresser-Rand Corporation in Wellsville in 1996 after 31 years of service.

He is survived by five children, Bradley (Colleen) Morrison of Scio, Calvin (Robin) Morrison of Wellsville, Rhonda (Donald) Clark of Scio, Monica Morrison of Scio and Matthew Morrison of Wellsville, 12 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, 2 sisters, Ardell Krause of Amherst and Maxine (Alvie) Whitesell of Wellsville and several nieces & nephews. He was predeceased by three brothers, Glen, Donald and Andrew Morrison and one sister, Evelyn Dressig.

Friends are invited to call on Thursday from 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 pm at the J. W. Embser Sons Funeral Home Inc. in Wellsville. The funeral will be Friday, June 11, 2010 at 1:00 pm in the funeral home with Rev. Charlie Emerson presiding. Burial will be in Knights Creek Cemetery in Scio. Raymond W. Hoberg Jr.

Belmont, NY - Raymond W. Hoberg Jr., 74, of 5471 Cemetery Hill Road died on Monday June 7, 2010 at Jones memorial Hospital in Wellsville with his loving wife at his side. He was born February 5, 1936 in Huntington, WV the son of the late Raymond W. and Stella (Kowalski) Hoberg Sr. On July 12, 1975 in Belmont he married Judy A. Hollister who survives.

Ray was raised in the Cleveland, Ohio area and moved to Belmont in September of 1974. He served with the U.S. Coast Guard during the Korea and Viet Nam era from 1954 to 1961. He was employed as CAD draftsman for Dresser-Rand Corporation in Wellsville; retiring in 2000. He was an active member of the Belmont United Methodist Church where he served as a trustee and president of the United Methodist Men's Breakfast Club. His former memberships included the Belmont Volunteer Fire Department, the Amity Rescue Squad; where he served as an EMT, the Herbert De Long Post 808 American Legion; where he served as Chaplain, the Belmont Rotary Club and the Belmont Conservation Club. He was a former Scoutmaster and volunteer for the American Cancer Society Relay for Life.

He currently was a volunteer for the American Red Cross and was a transporter and Meals on Wheels driver for the Allegany County Office For Aging. He was a SAREP instructor who shared his love of fishing at various children's camps for over 20 years. He was a member of the WNY Emmaus Community and attended the Enchanted Mountain Gathering in Olean. Ray was a devoted 29 year friend and follower of Bill W. and was instrumental in establishing the "Bridging the Gap" program" in area correctional facilities. Ray had a great love of reading, fishing, sailing, canoeing and leather crafts. He was a master gardener and enjoyed woodworking.

Surviving in addition to his wife Judy are, five children, Raymond W. (Ruth) Hoberg III of Ohio, Karen (Walt) Lauderdale of California, Terri (Steven) Maxwell of Kingsport, TN, Darci Hoberg and her fiancé Jerome Ladabouche both of Wellsville and PVT Joseph Hoberg, U.S. Army National Guard, stationed at Fort Leonard Wood, MO, 7 grandchildren, Odessa Smith, Jason and Eric Hoberg, Sabrina, Krista and Bryce Marvin and Ryan Maxwell and three great Grandchildren. He was predeceased by a son, Timothy Hoberg.

Friends are invited to a memorial service and celebration of Ray's life on Friday, June 25, 2010 at 11:00 am at the Belmont United Methodist Church with Rev. Doug Childress presiding. At his request Ray's body was donated to the University of Buffalo and there will be no prior visitation. Jean Louise Patrick

Andover, NY - Jean Louise Patrick, 82, of 10 Railroad Avenue passed away at home on Sunday, June 6, 2010 with her family at her side. She was born May 24, 1928 in Wellsville, the daughter of the late Lloyd and Edna (Griggs) Hanchett. Jean was formerly employed as telephone operator for New York Bell; a customer service representative for both New York Bell and Sammons Communication and more recently was a member of the activities staff at Wellsville Manor. She was a member of the Women of the Moose and enjoyed bowling and playing euchre and bingo.

She is survived by her lifetime companion, Clint Bundy of Andover, two sons, Michael Patrick of Wellsville and Robert Patrick of Florida, 2 nieces, Sharon (Jerry) Falletta of Groton and Susan Thomas of Wellsville, one nephew, John (Jan Reisman) Fleischman of Wellsville as well as several great nieces & nephews. She was predeceased by a sister, Lois Fleischman.

Fred A. "Bo" Roberts

Olean, NY - Fred A. "Bo" Roberts of 1620 Avenue A passed away at Mercy Hospital in Buffalo on Wednesday June 2, 2010. He was born on September 17, 1926 in Whitesville to Fred A. and Bessie Graves Roberts. Fred was married to Marion McCarty who predeceased him.

Fred served in the US Army during WWII and retired from the former Clark Brothers in Olean after 28 years of service. He was a member of the VFW in Cuba, the American Legion in Allegany and liked to hunt and camp.

Survivors include: 2 sons, Fred A. Roberts Jr. of Wellsville, Donald White of Portville and a step son Frank (Dawn) White of Scio; 3 daughters, Patricia Roberts of Titusville, FL., Nancy (Bill) Bostley of Wellsville and Kay (Bob) Babbitt of Wellsville; 16 grandchildren, several great grandchildren as well as several nieces and nephews.

Fred was predeceased by a brother Lon Roberts; 4 sisters, Arvilla Knapp, Violet Knapp, Phyllis Hess and Edra Ellis.

Friends may call on Saturday June 5 from 12 noon to 2 pm in the J.W. Embser Sons Funeral Home in Wellsville with the funeral service at 2 pm in the funeral home. Rev. Richard Helms will preside and burial with full military honors will be in Stannards Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Southern Tier Youth for Christ or to the charity of the donor's choice.

Walter E. "Moose" Brown

Belmont, NY - Walter E. "Moose" Brown, 67, of 4 Whitney Avenue passed away at home on Tuesday, June 1, 2010 following a lengthy illness. He was born July 13, 1942 in Wellsville the son of Albert and Joetta (Hoover) Brown.

"Moose" attended Belmont High School and was a veteran of the U.S. Navy from 1960 to 1962. He began his career as a tool dresser in the local oil fields and later was an oiler for Dresser-Rand Corporation in Wellsville for many years retiring in 1995. He was the immediate Past Commander of the Herbert De Long Post 808 American Legion in Belmont, an officer in the Belmont Conservation Club and a life member of the Belmont Volunteer Fire Department.

He is survived by two daughters, Tami Brown of Roseville, CA and Christine Perry of Englewood, CO, six grandchildren, one great grandson, two brothers, Richard (Elaine) Brown of North Dartmouth, MA and Thomas (Linda) Brown of Belmont, two sisters, Janice "Sis" McNinch of Wellsboro, PA and Sandra (James) Cooper of Belmont as well as several nieces & nephews.

Friends are invited to a military memorial service on Sunday, June 6th at 2:00 pm at the Herbert De Long Post 808 American Legion, 27 Schuyler Street in Belmont. John William Walchli, Sr.

Wellsville, NY - John William Walchli, Sr., 88, of Wellsville, NY and Phoenix, AZ passed away May 29, 2010 in Phoenix after a brief illness. Born June 26, 1921 to Otto and Marion Judge Walchli, he graduated from Wellsville High School in 1939.

After serving in World War II in the 8th Air Force, 486 bomb group as Intelligence Specialist in Sudbury Suffolk England from 1943 to 1945 creating bombing mission maps and folders, he graduated from Syracuse University in 1946.

After working for several years in the radio broadcasting industry, he returned to Wellsville, NY in 1948 to work for Richardson Petroleum Corp, from which he retired in 1986 as President.

Mr. Walchli was a member of the New York State Oil Producers Association for over fifty years and served as its President for two years. He also served on the Energy Resources, Research and Technology Committee for the Interstate Oil and Gas Compact Commission. In addition he has served on the Tight Sands Committee of the IPAA Society of Petroleum Engineers.

He also served as Chairman of the Eastern District Production Committee for the American Petroleum Institute including the states of New York, Pennsylvania, Michigan and Illinois. In addition he served as Chairman of the Secondary Recovery Study Group for the Bradford, Pennsylvania District of the Pennsylvania Grade Crude Oil Association.

Mr. Walchli served as the President of the Wellsville Chamber of Commerce and was a member for a number of years. In addition, he served on the Town of Wellsville Planning Board for seven years and the Allegany County Planning Board for thirty years. Mr. Walchli was a life member of the American Legion Post 702 of Wellsville.

Mr. Walchli served as a director of the First Trust Union Bank Board for 16 years from 1968 to 1984. He was also a member of the CFA (Chartered Financial Analysts) Society of Rochester and the CFA Institute.

Mr. Walchli was a life long member of the First United Methodist Church in Wellsville where he served as the Chairman of the Usher Committee and Chairman of the Pastoral Relations Committee. Mr. Walchli was also active in the Boy Scouts and served as Scoutmaster for Troup 22 in Wellsville, N.Y.

Mr. Walchli was a 50 year member, a Past President and a Paul Harris Fellow of the Wellsville Rotary Club which he joined in March, 1955. He was also a perennial Rotarian with the Scottsdale Rotary Club in Scottsdale, Arizona.

Calling hours will be Friday June 4 from 2 to 4 pm and 7 to 9 pm at the J.W. Embser Sons Funeral Home in Wellsville. Funeral services will be Saturday at 11 am at the First United Methodist Church in Wellsville.

He is survived by his wife Anne, daughter Barbara (Larry Seay), sons John (Lisa Clark) and Jim and grandsons Kyle and John Richard. He was predeceased by his daughter Elizabeth (Betsy) and his brother Edward.
