Earl E. Brown

Webster, NY - Earl E. Brown, 93, of Baywinde Senior Living Community, passed away on Wednesday, November 26, 2014 at the Jewish Home of Rochester following a brief illness. He was born June 18, 1921 in the Town of Alfred. He was the son of the late Earl and Violet (White) Brown. On June 29, 1946 in Wellsville he married Doris Regina Aldrich who predeceased him on November 9, 1991.

Earl attended Alfred-Almond Central School and was a graduate of Angelica High School. He was a former resident of the Fords Brook Road in Wellsville. He was first employed in the local oil fields and on the family farm. He began his career with Bausch & Lomb in Wellsville and continued with the company in Rochester for over 30 years; retiring in 1983. He was a member of the Corpus Christi Catholic Church in Rochester and was an avid Bowler.

He is survived by two daughters, Judy Harrington and her husband Fred of Springwater and Georgia Bellucci and her husband Carl of Victor, one son, Michael Brown and his wife Betty of Webster, four Grandchildren, Matthew Bellucci and his wife Jill, Patrick Bellucci and Katherine Mattice, Colleen Harrington and Scott Culp and Meghan Harrington Moore and her husband Steve, three great grandchildren, Mina Hogenes, and Nori and Sage Bellucci Mattice, two sisters, Dorothy Cornish of Wellsville and Kay Blessing of Olean as well as several nieces & nephews including a special niece, Tina Snow.

He was predeceased in addition to his parents by a brother and sister-in-law, Ward and Martha Brown, a sister and brother-in-law, Phyllis and Norm Graves, a brother-in-law, Duane “Dish” Cornish and a grandson, Frederick Harrington IV.

Friends are invited to call on Sunday from 3:00 to 6:00 pm and Monday from 10:00 to 10:30 am at the J. W. Embser Sons Funeral Home Inc. in Wellsville. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, December 1, 2014 at 11:00 am at the Immaculate Conception Church in Wellsville. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery. Virginia E. Vossler Scott

Wellsville, NY - Virginia E. Vossler Scott, age 94, formerly of Petrolia passed away on Friday November 21, 2014 at the Highland Health Care Center. She was born on December 29, 1919 in Wellsville to Johann and Armena (Kimble) Vossler.

Virginia was a lifelong resident of the Wellsville area who graduated from Wellsville Central High School in 1935. She retired from the Wellsville Daily Reporter in the early 1980's as a proof reader. Virginia was a member the First Trinity Lutheran Church and the Dorcas Guild of Wellsville, The Business and Professional Women and was a life member of the Petrolia Fire Department Auxiliary. She loved animals and was an excellent cook who enjoyed entertaining with her delicious meals and scrumptious pies. Virginia delivered meals on wheels and did not hesitate to help her friends and neighbors. She was an asset her Petrolia Community and will be sadly missed.

She is survived by 3 sons, Jerry E. Jensen of Arizona, Garry W. Scott of Wellsville and James D. (Susan) Scott of Bolivar; 3 grandchildren, Jody (Mike) Stone of Arizona, Marti Jensen of Arizona and Adam (Jennifer) Scott of Bolivar; 3 great grandchildren, Zachery Jensen of Arizona, Kennedy Scott of Bolivar and Isaac Scott of Bolivar; several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by a sister, Josephine (Vossler) McPheters in 1971; a brother, Warren R. Vossler in 1995 and a granddaughter Angela Scott Pounds in 2008.

Janice (Pease) Boring Davis

Wellsville NY -Janice (Pease) Boring Davis passed away on Sunday, November 23, 2014, at the Hart Comfort House surrounded by her children. Janice was born in Wellsville on July 22, 1932, the daughter of Harry S. and Margaret (McCullum) Pease. On January 10, 1953, she married Stewart Boring Jr., who predeceased her on November 15, 1990. She later married Darrell E. Davis, who predeceased her on June 3, 1997.

Janice was a graduate of the Wellsville Central School Class of 1949. Until her retirement, she was employed by Jones Memorial Hospital. She enjoyed her time with her family and friends and especially enjoyed spending time at Rushford Lake.

Janice was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary Unit 702, as well as a former member of the Women of the Moose Lodge 601 and the Lady Elks Lodge 1495.

Janice is survived by her brother, Steven (Diana) Pease, of Wellsville and three children: Suzanne (Timothy) Colligan of Wellsville; Rebecca (Richard) Archambault of Tonawanda; and Daniel (Megan) Boring of Flourtown, PA. In addition, she is survived by three grandchildren: Erin Dahlgren of Wellsville; Scott Archambault of Buffalo; and Lucca Boring of Flourtown; as well as three great-grandchildren: Brooklyn, Wheeler, and Timothy Dahlgren of Wellsville, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

In addition to her parents and spouses, Janice was predeceased by a brother, Ronald Pease, in 1948; a son, Scott Boring, in 1975; and grandson, Shane Colligan, in 2003.

Friends will be received at the J.W. Embser & Sons Funeral Home from 7-9 pm on Tuesday, November 25, 2014. A funeral service will be held at the funeral home, at 34 West State Street, Wellsville, on Wednesday, November 25, 2014 at 2pm. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery in Wellsville. Matthew E. Dickerson

Tonawanda, NY - Matthew E. Dickerson, age 34, a former resident of Belfast passed away at his home in Tonawanda. He was born in Cuba on August 20, 1980 to Charles and Karen Jakley Dickerson.

Matthew had graduated from Fillmore Central High School and also from Houghton College. 

He was a member of the US Army National Guard and currently he was working for Home Depot in Tonawanda. Matthew was a member of the Belfast United Methodist Church and was an avid runner who ran in numerous marathons. He enjoyed horseback riding and liked all animals. Matthew will be remembered as someone with a good heart.

Survivors include His Mom and Dad of Belfast; maternal grandmother Barbara Jakley of Pike; a brother Andrew Dickerson of Buffalo; several aunts' uncles and cousins.

He was predeceased by his paternal grandparents Earl and Gladys Dickerson and his maternal grandfather Robert Jakley.

Dorothy Jean “Dotsie” Lewis Guinnip

Scio, NY - Dorothy Jean “Dotsie” Lewis Guinnip, 61, of 5936 Fish Road gave up her fight with ALS at home on Thursday, November 20, 2014. She was born on April 18, 1953 in Wellsville, the daughter of Edward and Esther (Jackson) Wyckoff. On August 20, 1977 in Petrolia she married Bruce D. Guinnip who survives.

Dotsie was employed as a production coordinator for the Nutrition Department of Jones Memorial Hospital in Wellsville until her diagnosis with ALS in 2011.  

Surviving in addition to her husband are two beautiful daughters, Tara-Jean Guinnip of Scio
and Sandy (Dan) Friday of Rochester, two grandchildren, Evan and Taylor-Grace Friday, her mother, Esther Moultrup of Scio, three sisters, Betty (Rick) Moultrup of Allentown, Patty (Bob) Standard of Scio and Gina Elliott of Wellsville, two brothers, Edward H.Wyckoff Jr. of Bolivar and Jason (Ashley) Moultrup of Scio as well as several nieces & nephews. She was also affectionately known as “Grandma Dots” to Carly and Emma Moultrup. She was predeceased by her father, her step father, Norman Moultrup and her first husband, Richard Lewis.

Friends are invited to call on Saturday, November 22, 2014 from 12 noon to 2:00 pm at the J. W. Embser Sons Funeral Home Inc. in Wellsville. Harriett Hubert Bradley

Wellsville, NY - Harriett Hubert Bradley died peacefully at home on Thursday, November 6.    

Harriett was born March 24, 1925 in Hornell the third of four daughters of John and Harriett (Felix) Hubert. She graduated from Hornell High School and in April of 1943 married her husband Richard. Following his military service during World War II they would make their home in Wellsville for 67 years until his death in 1996.  

For many summers Harriett played golf with friends and family. She was a longtime member of the Wellsville Country Club but would achieve that coveted prize, a hole-in-one, in East Aurora. She was an avid reader and had enjoyed knitting since she was a teenager.  Many newborns have left Jones Memorial Hospital wearing one of Harriett's knit caps.  She frequently participated in the hospital's annual Country Fair as a member of the Hemlock Twig.  As a 30 year member of the Monday Club, she regularly joined with members for their weekly meetings.  Harriett was a member of the United Church of Christ in Wellsville since shortly after she and her husband moved to Wellsville.  

Harriett is survived by her four children, Richard of Kissimmee, Florida, Tom of Cuba, Jeff and his wife Jane of Cuba, and Carol also of Cuba.  Harriett's grandchildren include Sarah of Cuba, Rebecca of St. Petersburg, Florida, Justin and his wife Brittany of Allegany, and their son Evan who has not yet celebrated his first birthday.  Also surviving Harriett are her sisters, Betty of Hornell, Rose of Bath as well as several nieces and nephews.  

Besides her husband, Harriett was predeceased by her sister Lucille, her brother in law, Jack Ordway, husband of Rose and dear friends, Phyllis Burrows of Wellsville and Beverly Peck of Lahaina, Hawaii.  

Harriett's family would like to express its gratitude to the very special Mary, Tina, Maria, Cindy, Lori and Nancy for the kindness and attention given their mother during her last days.

Friends are invited to call on Tuesday, November 11 from 5:00 to 8:00 pm at the J. W. Embser Sons Funeral Home Inc. in Wellsville. The family will also host a celebration of the life of their mother at the Wellsville County Club on Saturday, November 15 from 2:00 to 4:00 pm.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the David A.
