Wellsville, NY - Mariam A. Butler, 91, a former resident of 32 Crowner Avenue passed away on Sunday, March 27, 2011 at the Highland Healthcare Center in Wellsville. She was born February 7, 1920 in Westfield, NY the daughter of the late Vernon and Beulah (Teemley) Harmon. On November 11, 1940 in Olean she married Jack Butler who predeceased her on January 3, 1985.
Mariam was formerly employed at Bausch & Lomb Inc. in Wellsville from 1948 until it closed in 1954, Glen L. Smith Inc. in Wellsville from 1955 until it closed in 1957 and Capital Plastics Inc., which later became Rochester Button Inc. in Wellsville from 1964 until they closed in 1977.
She is survived by a daughter, Diane (Jim) Daly of Clarence Center and Fort Myers, FL, five grandchildren, Patrick (Lisa) Daly of Lockport, NY, Kathleen (Todd) Molyneux of Missouri City, TX Michael (Christy) Daly of Sanford, NC, Kimberly (Benny) Lynch and Karen Dates both of Raleigh, NC, eight great-grandchildren, Tyler and Meredith Daly, Alexa, Sean, Kelcey and Connor Molyneux and Alexandra Daly, a sister-in-law, Violet Butler of Olean as well as several nephews and one niece. She was predeceased by a daughter, Joanne E. Dates in October of 2001, her step-father, Ralph Freeman and a cousin, Evelyn Button.
Friends are invited to a memorial service on Thursday, May 5, 2011 at 11:30 am at the J. W. Embser Sons Funeral Home Inc. in Wellsville with Monsignor Vincent Becker presiding. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery in Wellsville. Memorial donations may be made to the Wellsville Volunteer Ambulance Corps, Immaculate Conception School or the David A. Howe Public Library.
