Ann B. McKinley

Wellsville, NY - Ann B. McKinley, 79, of 152 Pine Street died on Monday, March 27, 2017 at Jones Memorial Hospital surrounded by her family. She was born January 8, 1938 in Wellsville, the daughter of the late Harvey and Mary (Brown) Brown. On August 22, 1959 in Wellsville she married James M. McKinley who predeceased her on November 4, 1999. 

Ann was a graduate of the Immaculate Conception School, was a 1955 graduate of Wellsville High School and attended D’Youville College. She worked at various local businesses during her high school years and was employed by New York Telephone when she returned from college. After her family was grown, she owned and operated Frederick’s Grocery and Delicatessen in Wellsville. Ann lived for her family and loved the family gatherings at the cabin on Brown Road. She was a member and faithful servant of the Immaculate Conception Church and enjoyed helping with various annual community and church events, especially the Food Booth at Immaculate Conception Fun Fair.     

She is survived by five sons, Patrick McKinley, James (Tonya) McKinley and Michael McKinley all of Wellsville, Dennis (Kathy) McKinley of Raleigh, NC and Timothy (Kim) McKinley of Anchorage, Alaska, four daughters, Mary George of Hornell, Maureen (Jason) Sibble, Margaret (Aaron) Whitehouse and Kate (James) Murphy all of Wellsville, 21 Grandchildren, Casey, Jaclyn, Keely, Brittany, Tessa, Michaeleen, Connor, Jimmy and Liam McKinley, Jill Speegle, Megan and Laura George, Jessica Bennett, Morgan, Mallory and Brooke Sibble, Sean and Jana Whitehouse and Sarah, Richie and Gavin Murphy, 7 Great grandchildren, with two on the way, three brothers, Rev. William “Bill” Brown OFM of Peru and Michael (Mickey) Brown of Jamestown and Robert (Nancy) Brown of Arizona and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased in addition to her parents and husband, by a son, William “Billy” McKinley, a brother, James H. Brown and a sister, Loretta McKean.

Rebecca M. “Beckie” Rose

Belmont, NY - Rebecca M. “Beckie” Rose, age 51 of State Route 244 passed away on Saturday, March 25, 2017, at Jones Memorial Hospital after a long illness. She was born on February 19, 1966 in Cuba to Donald and JoAnn Marsh Brown who survive. She was married on October 4, 1999 in Angelica to Harvey N. Rose who survives.

Beckie was a lifelong resident of the Belmont Area who attended Belmont Central School and graduated from the Belmont Christian Academy. She had worked as a nurse’s aide at the Wellsville Highland Park Nursing Home and at the Houghton Nursing Home. Beckie was later employed at Current Controls in Wellsville. She enjoyed quilting, making quilts for her nieces and nephews, and entered her work at the Allegany County Fair. Beckie had attended the First Baptist Church in Belmont and loved animals especially her dogs.

Survivors include her husband Harvey of Belmont; her parents Donald and JoAnn Marsh Brown of Belmont; 2 brothers, Philip (Annette) Brown of Belmont, and Daniel (Kara Guenther) of Olean; several nieces and nephews; her sister in law Ann Brown of Wellsville.

Beckie was predeceased by a brother, Steven Brown and a nephew Donald S. Brown.

Friends are invited to call on Friday, March 31, 2017, from 12 noon to 2 pm in the First Baptist Church of Belmont at which time a funeral service will take place. Fred C. Miles

Wellsville, NY - Fred C. Miles, age 93, formerly of the Stannards Road passed away on Tuesday, March 22, 2017, at Jones Memorial Hospital in Wellsville. He was born in Machias on August 27, 1923 to Merle and Martha Buhr Miles. On December 28, 1945 he married Helen C. Howard who predeceased him on June 15, 2011.

Fred had lived on the Stannards Road for over 50 years. He had served his country during WWII in the US Army Air Corps in the China, Burma, and India Theater as an air craft mechanic. Fred retired from Dresser Rand in 1985 as a Service Technician only to return there as a consultant. Fred was a self-taught man. He started work as an electrician where he designed the panels for turbines and worked his way up to a Service Technician. He enjoyed working in his machine shop where he built many race cars in the 1950’s and 1960’s and after he retired he built a B modified sprint car. Fred also enjoyed building and flying remote control model airplanes. He was a life member of the American Legion Post #702 of Wellsville and had been a member of the Stannards United Methodist Church.

Fred is survived by 3 daughters, Carol (Jack) Cashmore of Florida, Diana (Paul) Winchell of Belmont , and Terry (George) Dash of Colorado; 7 grandchildren, several great grandchildren, and 3 great great grandchildren;2 sisters, Katherine Keller, and Ruby Golley; a brother, Ernie Miles; several nieces and nephews.

Fred was predeceased by his wife, Helen; 3 brothers, Paul Miles, Darwin Miles, and Hank Miles; a sister Rosie Treat.

Friends are invited to attend a grave side service on Tuesday, March 28, 2017, at 11 am in the Cuba Cemetery with full military honors. Linda Ann Hayes

Wellsville, NY - Linda Ann Hayes, age 61, of O’Connor Street passed away on Wednesday, March 22, 2017, at the university of Rochester Medical Center. She was born on April 1, 1955 in Wellsville to William and Junietta Coy Sheridan. On August 20, 1983 at the Immaculate Conception Church she married John M. Hayes who survives.

Linda was a long time resident of the Wellsville was an LPN for many years at the Wellsville Manor Nursing Home and until 2015 at the Manor Hills. Linda enjoyed many trips to Disney World, Atlantic City, and to Seneca Allegany in Salamanca. She also enjoyed flower gardens and loved her family more than anything. She was a member of the Women of The Moose Chapter 248, and the Immaculate Conception Church both of Wellsville.

Linda is survived by her husband John; 2 sisters, Gail Sheridan of Rochester and Sandy (Gary) Ordway of Wellsville; 4 brothers, Pat (Sharon) Sheridan of Conesus, Dan Sheridan of Wellsville, Steve (Laura) Sheridan of Wellsville, and John (Michele) Sheridan of Wellsville; several nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nepews;2 brother in laws, Terry Hayes and James Hayes.

Linda was predeceased by her mother and father and a daughter, Amy Elizabeth Sheridan.

Friends may call on Sunday, March 26, 2017, from 2-4 and 7-9 pm at the J.W. Embser Sons Funeral Home in Wellsville. On Monday friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 11 am in the Immaculate Conception Church. Julie Presutti Congelli

BELMONT – Our beloved and beautiful Julie Presutti Congelli returned to her Heavenly family on Sunday, March 12, 2017 just weeks after her 100th birthday.  She was intensely and lovingly tended at home for the last four years of her life by her devoted granddaughter.  Dedicated wife, mother, grandmother, sister, sister-in-law, aunt, great aunt, and friend, she spent all of her days and all of her energy caring for those she loved.  She retained her wit, sparkling laugh and vibrant personality until her last days.

Julie was born in Olean, New York to Frank and Nancy (DeFiore) Presutti. She was the fourth of twelve children.  She graduated from Belmont High School, and in 1940 married Henry Congelli, a talented and dignified gentleman from Wellsville, New York where they lived for a short time before moving briefly to Buffalo then back to Belmont and then again to Buffalo.  From there it was on to Stamford, Connecticut for many years with a short interlude in Richmond, Virginia then again back to Connecticut to happily reunite with daughters and grandchildren.

She enjoyed several trips abroad with her husband, especially their two visits to the Vatican. She always remained close to her large family in the Southern Tier, traveling home often to see them.  Upon retirement Henry and Julie returned permanently to Belmont where they were blessed to share another era of life together with their many relatives and friends in this area.
A homemaker and cook extraordinaire, Julie lovingly crafted each residence into a beautiful home and is known for her exceptionally fine meals, especially her best-in-the-world apple pie. She was also a voracious reader and lifelong devout member of the Roman Catholic Church, spiritually reverent in the highest order.  Her generosity was ever notable in her family and her Church, and extended to many missions around the world.

Though small in stature she was gigantic in character. Her strong moral compass was the backbone of her family. With her heart and soul in every endeavor, she never lost sight of the right way to do things. Her support and guidance will be deeply missed.

Julie was predeceased by her husband of 64 years, Henry Congelli, her parents, and ten of her siblings and their spouses: Joseph, Yolanda, Elvira, Louis and Lena, Amedeo (Ab) and Irma, Lenora and Samuel Vacante, Genevieve and M.J. (Bud) Creighton, E. Joseph, former Allegany County Clerk, Charles, and Leonard, former Mayor of Belmont, and his wife Waneta. Also, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Felix Congelli, Raymond and Rosie Congelli, John and Elsie Congelli, Tony and Helen Congelli, Joseph and Dena Congelli, Michael Congelli, Mary and Fran Ward. She was additionally predeceased by several nieces and nephews, among them Linda Creighton, Dana Presutti, Christopher Presutti, Matthew Presutti, William Presutti, Louis Presutti, Jr., Raymond Congelli, Jr., Carmen Congelli, and Karen Congelli.

Surviving are: daughters Carole Martin and Pamela Congelli, grandson, Jeffrey Martin and granddaughter, Spencer Martin, M.D. Also surviving, a brother, Peter Presutti, his wife, Rosamonde, sisters-in-law Lasca (Felix) Congelli and Linda (Charles) Presutti, and numerous nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, April 17, 2017 at 12 noon at the Holy Family of Jesus, Mary, and Joseph Church in Belmont with Rev. Vincent Becker as celebrant and her great-nephew Zachariah Presutti SJ, assisting. The Rosary will be resided on Monday at 11:30 am in church, prior to the Mass.  Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery in Belmont.

Riccardo “Rick” Ferraloro



Wellsville, NY - Riccardo “Rick” Ferraloro, 52, of 2834 Miller Road passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, March 4, 2017 at home. He was born June 10, 1964 in Jamestown, the son of the late Carmelo and Maria (Boscia) Ferraloro Jr. On September 30, 1995 in Wellsville he married Tina Hager who survives. 


Rick was raised in Jamestown and was a graduate of Jamestown High School. He served four years with the US Marine Corps. He attended Jamestown Community College and graduated from Buffalo State College with a Bachelor’s Degree in Technology. He was employed by Dresser-Rand Corporation in Wellsville for 25 years as an Electrical Engineer.

Rick was a devoted father who enjoyed spending time with his family. He loved attending his daughter, Rachael’s concerts, helping his son Michael, rebuild dirt bikes and watching his son Matthew, play baseball. He also enjoyed helping out with his son’s Little League Team. He was also an active member of the Immaculate Conception Church.

Surviving in addition to his wife Tina, is one daughter, Rachael, two sons, Michael and Matthew, all who live at home in Wellsville, a sister, Gina (Lou) Hartzell and a brother, Carmen “Carl” (Janet) Ferraloro both of Jamestown, four nieces, Natalie and Kayla Hartzell and Rebecca Ferraloro of Jamestown and Melissa (Charles) Harrison of Olean, as well as several aunts, uncles and cousins from the Jamestown area.

Gary T. Arnold



Alma, NY - Gary T. Arnold, 72, of 261 Pump Station Road passed away on Saturday, March 4, 2017 at the Highland Park Healthcare Center. He was born on July 15, 1944 in Wellsville, the son of the late Louis and Roberta (Young) Arnold. On September 19, 1964 in Wellsville he married Marilyn Perkins who survives.  

Gary attended Wellsville High School. He was a four year veteran of the U. S. Navy. He was formerly employed at C. E. Air Preheater in Wellsville for one year and Dresser-Rand Corporation in Wellsville for 37 years. He was a member of the Morrison Hayes Post 702 American Legion and enjoyed gabbing with his friends and family. He was an outdoorsman who loved driving his side by side.  

Surviving in addition to his wife are two sons, Chad Arnold of Bradford, PA and Kerry Arnold and his companion, Christine Hurd of Alma, four grandchildren, Amanda (Corey) Yeoman, Nick, Kyle and Kailee Arnold, two great grandchildren, Harrison and Dunkin Yeoman, two sisters, Connie (James) McAndrews of Wellsville and Rosalie Ames of Franklinville, as well as several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased in addition to his parents by two sons, Jason and Victor Arnold and two brothers, Darwin and Ronnie Arnold.

Rhonda J. Clark

Scio, NY - Rhonda J. Clark, 59, of 3893 Weinhauer Hill Road died on Wednesday, March 1, 2017 at Jones Memorial Hospital in Wellsville. She was born on January 31, 1958 in Wellsville, the daughter of Ronald L. and Barbara Jo (Jackson) Morrison. On November 8, 1986 in Scio she married Donald K. Clark Sr. who survives.

Rhonda was a 1976 graduate of Scio Central High School. She was first employed by Fred’s Contract Cleaning Service and later by Scio Central School. She was a member of the Scio Volunteer Fire Department Auxiliary, the Woman of the Moose and attended the Shongo Country Chapel.

Surviving in addition to her husband are two sons, Donald K. (Christina) Clark Jr. of Lawton, OK and Ronald J. Clark of Scio, three brothers, Bradley (Colleen) Morrison of Andover, Calvin (Robin) Morrison of Wellsville and Matthew Morrison of Wellsville, one sister, Monica Morrison of Wellsville, as well as several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
