Allentown, NY - Phillip A. Taylor, 79, of 1913 White Hill Road passed away on Saturday, November 26, 2016 at home with his family at his side. He was born July 25, 1937 in Wellsville, the son of the late Isaac and Bessie (Harrington) Taylor. On February 1, 1958 in Alma he married Norma Stephens who survives.
Phil was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force from 1955 to 1957. He was employed at C. E. Air Preheater Co. in Wellsville for 37 years. He began his career as a welder and retired in 2006 as an inspector. He was a 50 year member of the Allentown Volunteer Fire Department; where he served as Captain, Trustee and Fire Chief. He enjoyed hunting, old westerns, history, traveling and puttering.
Surviving in addition to his wife is a son, Shaun (Ezura) Taylor of Allentown, a daughter, Molly Stirk of Wellsville, a grandson, Gregory (Jen) Taylor of Scio, a granddaughter, Ashley Taylor of Allentown, a sister, Betty (Jim) Grossman of Andover, a brother, Isaac (Doris) Taylor of Richburg and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased in addition to his parents, by a sister, Dorothy McCoy.
Friends are invited to call on Wednesday, November 30th from 7:00 to 9:00 pm and Thursday, December 1st from 12:00 noon to 2:00 pm. at the J. W. Embser Sons Funeral Home Inc. in Wellsville. The funeral will follow visitation at 2:00 pm in the funeral home with Roberta Baker presiding. Burial will be in Knights Creek Cemetery in Scio.
