Wellsville, NY - Junietta "June" Sheridan, age 81, of the Trapping Brook Road passed away on Sunday, September 28 2014, in her home. She was born on April 14, 1933 in Wellsville to Walter and Edna (Walden) Coy. On June 26, 1954 at the Immaculate Conception Church in Wellsville she married William Sheridan who predeceased her in October of 1970.
June lived in Rochester from 1954 until 1964 at which time she and her family moved to Leroy. In 1982 she returned to Wellsville and worked at the Wellsville Manor as a Certified Nursing Assistant. June later transferred to the activities department where she served as the assistant activities director and went on to become the director. In that capacity she belonged to the Southern Tier Activities Association and served as Vice President of that organization. June had been a member of the Wellsville Volunteer Ambulance Corps where she held several offices. June was the matriarch of her family who was well respected by all who knew her. She was an avid reader who enjoyed playing the piano and singing.
Survivors include: 4 sons, Patrick (Sharon) Sheridan of Lakeville, Daniel Sheridan of Wellsville, Stephen (Laura) Sheridan of Wellsville and John (Michele) Sheridan of Wellsville; 3 daughters, Linda (John) Hayes of Wellsville, Gail Sheridan Rochester and Sandra (Gary) Ordway of Wellsville; 9 grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren; a brother Richard Coy of Arizona; a sister Sharon Balch of Wellsville and several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband , her mom and dad, a granddaughter Amy Elizabeth Sheridan, her brothers Walter, Dale and Arnold Coy; her sister Dawn Coy.
Friends are invited to call on Wednesday October 1, from 7-9 pm at the J.W. Embser Sons Funeral Home in Wellsville. A Prayer Service will be held at 10:30 am on Thursday in the Funeral Home followed by a Mass of Christian Burial to be held at 11 am in the Immaculate Conception Church. Burial will take place in St. Francis Cemetery in Leroy and memorials in June's name may be made to the charity of the donor's choice.
