Robert B. Dolan Jr., 75

Wellsville, NY – Robert B. Dolan Jr., 75, of Hillcrest Drive, passed away on Friday, August 23, 2024, at Highland Park. He was born August 24, 1949, in Wellsville, the son of the late Robert B. Sr. and Madalene C. (Merry) Dolan. On August 24, 2022, he married Cheryl (Palmer) Boyer, at their home in Wellsville. 

Bob was raised in Scio, graduating from Scio High School in 1967. He continued his education at the University of Rochester, where he earned his Bachelor of ScienceHe found his career as a Facilities Engineer, first for Westinghouse, who ultimately transitioned to Siemans Corporation, he retired in January of 2015. Outside of work Bob was an avid reader, former golfer, loved cars in every way, adored animals, and played chess. His favorite pastime was to go out to eat, which was often accompanied by attending the movies. 

In addition to his wife, Cheryl, he is survived by: his children, Katherine Dolan and Elizabeth “Betsy” Dolan, both of Mt. Pleasant, PA, and Robert Michael (Christine) Griffin-Dolan of Cohoes, NY; grandchild, Benjamin Dolan; siblings, Madalene “Adele” (Robert) Black and John (MaryBeth Sootheran) Dolan, both of Wellsville, and Mary (Gary) Dunham, of Howard; Cheryl’s family, including, daughter Debra (Karl White) Boyer of Elba, NY, her children and grandchildren, and sister Wende (Robert) Green, of Hornell, and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a brother Daniel P. Dolan, and many cousins. 

The family would like to extend special thanks to the staff of Highland Park for their excellent care.

Susie A. Allen, 91

Wellsville, NY – Susie A. Allen, 91, passed away on Saturday, August 17, 2024, at Jones Memorial Hospital with her family at her side. She was born November 10, 1932, in Millport, PA, the daughter of William and Irene (Ball) Rathbun. On June 16, 1951, in Shinglehouse, PA, she married Robert Eric Allen who predeceased her in 1993.

Susie was raised in Millport and attended Shinglehouse High SchoolShe and Bob were active in the Wellsville community as she was a former member of the Wellsville Volunteer Fire Department, Auxiliary, the VFW Post 2530 Auxiliaryand the American Legion Auxiliary Unit 702. She also enjoyed playing euchre at the Wellsville Senior Citizens Center, and dancing at the VFW.

She is survived by a daughter, Kimberly Sue Greenanand her husbandPhillip C. Young of Rochester, a son, Randall S. (Kerri) Allen of Petrolia, 11 GrandchildrenShawn Allen, Jason Allen, Joseph Allen, Bradley Payne, Todd Payne, Corie Leigh Fowler, Crystal Kammer Walton, Tony Kammer, Jamie Greenan, Jessica Greenan, and Joseph Greenanseveral great grandchildren, and great-great grandbabies, a sister, Elizabeth Wilson of Charlotte, NC, as well as several nieces and nephews.She was predeceased in addition to her parents and husband by a son, Jonathan Allen, a daughter, Christine Payne, and a sister, Joanne Guinnip.

Shad Ryan Baldwin, 46

Wellsville, NY - Shad Ryan Baldwin, 46, of Bolivar Road passed away on Saturday, August 10, 2024, at Strong Memorial Hospital, after years of struggling with Behcet’sand Crohn's disease. He was born November 24, 1977, in Wellsville, son of Jacalyn Ann (Kemp) Baldwin and Roger Harvey BaldwinOn November 24, 2006, in Scio he married Carrie Prokopchuk who survives. 

Shad was raised in Wellsville and attended Wellsville High School. He was formerly employed by Baldwin Forest Products Inc., until he was rendered disabledWorking and providing for his family meant everything to Shad! He enjoyed hunting, fishingsitting by the pool, splitting firewood, campingbonfires, and family get-togethers. But mostly, he loved the peace and serenity that the beautiful outdoors brings, and the “Joy” he shared with those he cherished the most!

He is survived by his wife Carrie Baldwin, his mother Jackie Kemp, his father, Harvey Baldwin, maternal grandmother Onalee Hackett, three children Erik, Kendall, and Kyle Baldwin, a stepson, Kameron Baldwingrandson, Bellamy Bagley, maternal siblings, Tracey Hunt of Slidell, LA, Dusty Green of Whitesville, Ashlie Tronetti of Wellsville, Alexis (Jake) Way Warren, PA, and Casey Green of Jamestown, paternal siblings, Ticia McGean of AlbanyTodd Baldwin of Farrell, PA, and Harley Baldwin of Wellsville, as well as several  aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Julia A. Brush, 84

Wellsville, NY  Julia A. Brush, 84of Jefferson Street, passed away on Tuesday, August 6, 2024, at the Hart Comfort House with her family by her side. She was born June 23, 1940, in Wellsville, the daughter of the late Henry and Finola (Wiles) Hart. On June 9, 1962, at the Immaculate Conception Church in Wellsville she married James Alfred Brush, who predeceased her February 19, 2017

Judy attended the Immaculate Conception School through the 10th grade and was 1958 graduate of Wellsville High School. She continued her education at CanisiuCollege and graduated with her bachelor’s degree from the Mercy Hospital School of Nursing in 1961She began her career at Jones Memorial Hospital, she was Dr. Harkness’ nurse for 15 years, and taught Nursing at Alfred State College. In 1981, she and her beloved friend, Jeanne Finn became the owners and operators of Silvers Men’s Shop in Wellsville. She was a life member of Gamma Pi Chapter of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority, the Downtown Merchant Association, the Wellsville Chamber of Commerce, the Immaculate Conception Church, and was the treasurer of the Allegany County Association for the Blind and Visually Impaired for fifteen years.

She is survived by son, Kevin Brush; and daughter, Mary Elizabeth Brush both of Wellsville; two grandsons, Matthew and Jeffrey Brush; a brother-in-law, Tom (Agnes) Brush of Scio, as well as several nieces, nephews, cousins, and lifelong friends. In addition to her parents, and husband, she was predeceased by siblings, Jean Hanks, Gerald (Mary Ellen) Hart, William Hart, and Esther (Clint) Adams as well as two nephews and niece

David M. Kemmer, age 81

Andover, NY -  David M. Kemmer, age 81, of Andover passed away at home surrounded by his family. He was born on March 11, 1943, in Baltimore Maryland to the late John W. and Louise [Smith] Kemmer.

David was a long-time resident of Pasadena, Maryland, who moved to Andover in 2000. He served in the US Army from 1957 until 1961 and had a been a member of the American Legion Post and the Moose Lodge both in the Pasadena Area. He enjoyed hunting, working in his garden, Playing Hoyle board and card games on his computer, NASCAR and especially laughing.

He is survived by his 4 children, Patricia Kemmer, Pamela [Mike] Jenkins, David [Debbie] Kemmer and Penny [Rick] Fleischmann; stepchildren, Laura Victor, Freda [Becky Spencer] Cavallaro, Toni Vogel, Barbara Cavallaro-Howard, Kathleen [Rick] Whitesell and Robert Roach Jr.; several grand and great grandchildren; a brother, Roy Kemmer; several nieces and nephews; and his first wife, Paula Walls Kemmer.

He was predeceased by wife Barbara A. Shelley on February 19, 2017; 2 brothers, John and Michael Kemmer; 2 sisters, Lois McGee and Jean Wolff; 2 grandsons, Jason Canter and Timothy McClung; a step great grandson, Nicholas Burge.

Leon E. Cline, 91

Alma, NY – Leon E. Cline, 91, of County Road 18, passed away at home on Wednesday, July 31, 2024, with his family by his side. He was born March 13, 1933, in Wellsville, the son of the late Leon S. and Esther M. (Willard) Cline. 

Leon was raised in Allegany County and attended school in a Wellsville area one-room-schoolhouseHe was eventually awarded an honorary GED from the school district. With special permission from his parents, he enlisted at 16 with the United States Army and deployed at 17 to Korea with the 32nd infantry, proudly serving from 1950 to 1953. After his honorabledischarge he travelled the United States, including spending time in Florida as a Tugboat Operator and in Arizona, working at his aunt’s bar. He was initially married to Ruth Ann Perry, after they parted ways, he was with Louise Pascale-Shively, from whom he gained four bonus children and had his daughter, he subsequently married Theresa Cline in July of 1988 in Trenton, Florida; though separated, he remained close with each of them. He returned to Allegany County for a funeral and stayed for his family and employment opportunities. He found his career at Fibercel Corporation of Portville, where he worked for over 30 years, retiring on his birthday in 1997. He was a member of Alma Methodist Church, Alma Rod & Gun Club, Alma Volunteer Fire Department for almost 30 years, and Wellsville American Legion Post 702, additionally, he used to play guitar for area nursing homes. He rode Harley-Davidson motorcycles for over 50 years, loved his side-by-side, his dog Elmo, playing crosswords, was an outdoorsman who could fix anything mechanical and enjoyed mowing his yard. For years, he would fix bikes for the neighborhood kids and sell them ones he would refurbish. His son, Harley, stayed at home to take care of him and has been by his side throughout the end of his life. 

He is survived by: his children, Glenda Cline of Olean, Harley (Erienne) Cline of Alma, Dan (Becky) Pascale of Cuba, Holy Pascale of Franklinville, and Chris (Lynn) Roberts of Eldred, PA; two grandchildren, Alexis (Sean) Withey-Scott and Payton White; a great-grandson, Sebastian Scott; close cousin, Kirby Cline; as well as several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by, son, Vince Pascale, and siblings, Jim Cline and Betty Jean Halliday.
