Phillip A. Taylor


Allentown, NY - Phillip A. Taylor, 79, of 1913 White Hill Road passed away on Saturday, November 26, 2016 at home with his family at his side. He was born July 25, 1937 in Wellsville, the son of the late Isaac and Bessie (Harrington) Taylor. On February 1, 1958 in Alma he married Norma Stephens who survives.


Phil was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force from 1955 to 1957. He was employed at C. E. Air Preheater Co. in Wellsville for 37 years. He began his career as a welder and retired in 2006 as an inspector. He was a 50 year member of the Allentown Volunteer Fire Department; where he served as Captain, Trustee and Fire Chief. He enjoyed hunting, old westerns, history, traveling and puttering. 

Surviving in addition to his wife is a son, Shaun (Ezura) Taylor of Allentown, a daughter, Molly Stirk of Wellsville, a grandson, Gregory (Jen) Taylor of Scio, a granddaughter, Ashley Taylor of Allentown, a sister, Betty (Jim) Grossman of Andover, a brother, Isaac (Doris) Taylor of Richburg and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased in addition to his parents, by a sister, Dorothy McCoy.

Friends are invited to call on Wednesday, November 30th from 7:00 to 9:00 pm and Thursday, December 1st from 12:00 noon to 2:00 pm. at the J. W. Embser Sons Funeral Home Inc. in Wellsville. Maryan “Marty” Numeracki



Belmont, NY - Maryan “Marty” Numeracki, 87, of 4443 Back River Road, passed away on Saturday, November 26, 2016 at home with his family. He was born February 2, 1929 in Buffalo, the son of the late John and Sophie (Zomorski) Numeracki. On February 25, 1956 in Erie, PA he married Irma Potter who survives.


Marty served with the United States Marine Corps from 1947 to 1950 and with the United States Navy Reserves from 1952 to 1956. He was employed as a machinist at Dresser-Rand in Wellsville for 25 years. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed Hunting, fishing and farming.

Surviving in addition to his wife are two sons, Timothy Numeracki of Wellsville and Michael (Dana) Numeracki of Belmont, two daughters, Leslie (Bill) Patterson of Casenova, VA and Laura (Brian) Shea of Rochester, eight grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren, a brother, James (Shirley) Petersen of Buffalo, a sister, Deborah (Tom) Januchowski of Buffalo, a brother-in-law, Bernard Duman of West Seneca, several nieces and nephews, and a special friend, Glenda Conway of Georgia. He was predeceased by a brother, John Numeracki and a sister, Dolores Duman.

Christopher Golden

Wellsville, NY - Christopher Golden, 55, of 237 O’Connor Street passed away on Thursday, November 24, 2016 shortly after arrival at Jones Memorial Hospital. He was born December 21, 1960 in Binghamton, NY the son of the late Roger and Lois (Smith) Golden.

Christopher was formerly employed by Piece Work Industries in Wellsville. While living at the Arc home in Alfred, he participated in activities at Lighthouse Ministries. He will be sadly missed by the Allegany Arc staff and residents in both Alfred and the O’Connor Street residence in Wellsville.

He is survived by two brothers, Roger (Ann) Golden of Brewster, NY and Alton (Sue) Golden of Georges Mill, NH, two sisters, Elaine (Bill) Kenny of Reno, NV, and Lucile (Rob) Clougherty of Cosco, ME, as well as several nieces and nephews.

James Bert Scholes

Geneseo, NY - James Bert Scholes was born on April, 1921, in Stamford, Connecticut, third son and youngest child of Samuel Ray and Elizabeth (Boren) Scholes. He died from complications of a fall November 15, 2016, in Livingston County, New York.

He grew up in Alfred, New York, where he and Eloise Bassett were married October 31, 1942. A graduate of Middlebury College, he served as an engineer officer in World War II. As a professor of English, he taught in Kansas, Illinois, Tennessee, North Carolina, and (from 1959 to 1984) at the State University of New York at Geneseo, where he received teaching awards in 1964 and 1976. Following retirement, he enjoyed a second career on the regional stage in and around Rochester in dramatic vehicles from Chekhov to On Golden Pond, and most recently in the Geriactors, a senior traveling troupe which he co-founded.

He was the last of his generation in the family, having been predeceased be his wife, and siblings Samuel Ray Scholes Jr., Ann (Scholes) Colvin, and Addison Boren Scholes. Survivors include his daughter Sandra Scholes Henderson, son-in-law Harold Henderson, three grandchildren, one great-grandchild, and nieces and nephews. Friends, colleagues, and relatives cherish memories of his enthusiasm, his determination, his unfailing sense of humor, and his generosity with time, money, and spirit.

Myrna Evelyn Rogers Blouvet Burch

Scio, NY - Myrna Evelyn Rogers Blouvet Burch, 78, of Wolf Spring Road passed away on Sunday, November 20, 2016 at home, surrounded by her family. She was born September 20, 1938 in Olean, the daughter of Milton and Virginia (Owens) Rogers. On December 24, 1988 in their home, she married Royden B. Burch who predeceased her on December 24, 2005.

Myrna was a graduate of Scio Central School. In 1980 she was a member of the first LPN class at BOCES in Belmont. She was a beloved private duty nurse for many families in the Wellsville area for many years. She enjoyed watching basketball, playing cards, and was well known for calling friends and family on their birthdays, anniversaries and special occasions. She was deeply loved and will be sadly missed by children, grandchildren and extended family. 

She is survived by a son, James “Brad” (Shilo) Blouvet of Friendship, three daughters, Kim L. Blouvet of Laurel, MD, Kelley L. Blouvet of Memphis, NY, and Susan J. Babbitt of Wellsville, seven grandchildren, Tegan, Haley, Jacob, Bradley and his wife Tracy, Courtney and her husband Wesley, Christofer and Caroline, six great grandsons, Emeris, Steven, Haidyn, Samuel, Joseph and Lucas, two great granddaughters, Bailey and Felicia, one sister, Lela Seibert of Olean, a sister-in-law, Marlene Rogers of Alden, two brothers-in-law, Richard Seibert of Delaware and Carl Kuhn of Richburg, as well as several nieces & nephews. She was predeceased by a brother, Milton Rogers and a sister, Gail Hurlburt. 

Friends are invited to call on Friday, (November 25th) from 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 pm and on Saturday, (November 26th) from 12:00 noon to 1:00 pm. at the J. W. Frederick J. “Rick” Carr

Wellsville, NY - Frederick J. “Rick” Carr, age 69, of 36 Early Street passed away on Monday, November 14, 2016 in Jones Memorial Hospital. He was born on February 20, 1947 in Wellsville to Frederick and Jean Lucas Carr. On December 7, 1986 he married Kathleen Chamizo who survives him.

Rick graduated from Scio Central High School and was honorably discharged from the U.S. Army. He worked for LAPP Insulation in LeRoy for 21 years and in 1998 moved to Texas where he became an owner operator of ATS Trucking. Rick had driven in all of the lower 48 states and into Canada before retiring in 2007. In 2014 he and Kathleen moved back to Wellsville. He was a member of the VFW Post 2530 of Wellsville where he last danced on Monday November 7, 2016.

Surviving besides his wife of 30 years are 2 step sons, Daniel Anderton and John Anderton both of Wellsville; 6 sisters, Sandy (Bernie) Jackson of Wellsville, Kay (Bill) Bennett of Perry, Kim (Rube) Jenkins of Hornell, Penny Martin of Hinsdale, Ellen Carr of Colorado and Melinda (Bob) McMaster of Orchard Park; several nieces and nephews and his dog and long time traveling companion, Sassy.

Rick was predeceased by his parents, a sister Nancy Hayes and his brother, Kevin Carr.

Beverly S. Raynor

Wellsville, NY - Beverly S. Raynor, age 79, of the Stannards Road passed away on Thursday, November 3, 2016 at Jones Memorial Hospital. She was born on April 20, 1937 in Wellsville to Carlos and Onolee Davidson Starr. On June 10, 1967 in the Stannards United Methodist Church she married Charles Raynor who predeceased her on November 2, 2012.

Bev was a graduate of the Wellsville High School class of 1955. She began her nursing education at Geneseo and University of Buffalo and then completed her Associates Degree in Nursing from Elmhurst Hospital in Queens, New York City. While working at Elmhurst Hospital she met Charlie whom she married and together they raised two sons in Queens. Bev and Charlie later moved to Wellsville to take care of her parents, Carlos and Onolee. She enjoyed traveling with her husband and her cousin Barb Kalamets, Knitting, and spending time with her grandchildren. She was a member of the New York State Nursing Association and attended the Trinity Lutheran Church in Wellsville.

Bev is survived by 2 sons, Charles Raynor II of Bartonsville, PA.,and Lawrence (Patricia) Raynor Queens, NYC.; 2 grandchildren, Rebecca Raynor and Kyle Raynor; several cousins, nieces, and nephews.
