Batavia, NY - M. Marie O'Keefe of State Street passed away on Wednesday, March 30, 2011, at the F. F. Thompson Hospital in Canandaigua. She was born in West Union to Bernard and Vivian Steadman O'Keefe.
Marie was former resident of Wellsville and South Alabama moving to Batavia in 1979 and was the office manager for Tyler Truck Line in Oakfield. She graduated from the immaculate Conception School in Wellsville, Wellsville High School and from Medaille College in Buffalo. Marie's life was her family and her faith. She was a dedicated mother, grandmother and great grandmother as well as a faithful parishioner of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Batavia. She had been a member of the Oakfield Alabama Grange and served as the Matron for their Junior Grange.
Survivors include: 3 sons, Tommy (Sandy) Emerson of Oklahoma, Dennis Emerson of the Philippines' and Jamie Emerson of Batavia; 3 daughters, Patty Caleb of Medina, Anne Marie (Mike) Culliton of Batavia and Kathryn (Pat) Keenan of Farmington; 19 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren; a brother Dennis O'Keefe of Andover and several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her parents, a sister, Ann Storm and a granddaughter, melissa Emerson.
Friends are invited to call on Monday, April 4, 2011, from 11:30 am to 12:30 pm at the J.W. Embser Sons Funeral Home, 34 West State Street, Wellsville, NY. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 1 pm in the Immaculate Conception Church in Wellsville with Monsignor Vincent Becker as Celebrant. Friends are also invited to attend a gathering at the St. Mary's Catholic Church on Ellicott Street in Batavia on Tuesday, April 5, 2011 from 4 to 8 pm. Her burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery and memorials in Marie's name may be made to the Catholic Charities. To leave online condolences please visit ww.embserfuneralhome.com.
