James T. Darrin, 100

Wellsville, NY – James T. Darrin, 100, of Hills Street, passed away at home on Saturday, April 16, 2022 surrounded by family. He was born February 20, 1922 in Port Allegany, PA the son of the late Edwin and Caroline (Golden) Darrin. In 1951, in Kenmore, NY, he married Janet Becker Henkel, the mother of his children. She passed in 1987. In 1976 in Wellsville, he married Lois Marsh Darrin, who predeceased him in 1990. 

Jim was a 1940 graduate of Coudersport High School. Upon graduation he entered the workforce, and was employed in several jobs, including being a leather sorter for the Tannery in Coudersport. In 1943 he enlisted with the United States Army Air Corps where he worked his way from B24 Maintenance to B24 Flight Engineer serving in the South Pacific during World War II. After his honorable discharge, Jim attended and graduated from the Art Institute of Pittsburgh. By 1948 he had moved to Buffalo and began his career as a talented Graphic Artist for F.N. Burt of Buffalo and Cheektowaga, retiring in 1984. In 1988 he moved to Wellsville. He enjoyed working with his hands, wood carving, hunting in his earlier years, gardening, golfing, and traveling. He was a member of the American Legion Morrison Hayes Post 702 of Wellsville. 

Jim is survived by: two sons, Allen Darrin of Wellsville, and David (Laura) Darrin of Dover, FL; a daughter, Julia Darrin of Cheektowaga; and a grandson Travis Darrin. In addition to his parents, and wives, he was predeceased by: seven brothers, and seven sisters.
