Phoenix, AZ - Mark James Hand, age 61, a former resident of Wellsville died May 2, 2014 after a long battle with cancer.
Mark spent a wonderful childhood in Wellsville with close cousins, neighborhood friends and where he graduated from High School. Mark was very active in the Boy Scouts, becoming an Eagle Scout and managing the Wolf Creek Camp. He attended Brockport State College and worked for various companies including Air Preheater, Marathon Steel, Arizona Electrical and Power as well as the PSP Company. Mark enjoyed antiquing, Native American culture, sailing, skiing, hiking, nature, good music, good food and the company of good friends.
Mark is survived by his mother Marjorie Hand of Wellsville and his step mother Joanie Hand of Wellsville; 2 sisters Nancy (Dan) Brooks of Penn Yan and Sue Hand of Wellsville; stepsister Kathy (Holgar) Kurschner of Wellsville; stepbrother Jeff (Beth) Marsh of Wellsville; nephews, Brent Perkins of Trumansburg, T Jay (Ruth) Mott of Goose Creek, SC. and Jeffrey Crowner of Wellsville; a great niece, Gabrielle Mott of South Carolina; special friends and care givers, Kyle Kimmel, Tuan Nyguan both of Phoenix, AZ., and Charles Davison of Superior AZ.; furry family members, Powder and Tulip.
Mark was predeceased by his Father James G. Hand; a brother Ronald J. Hand; step father Robert Owen and 2 uncles Robert Hand and Raymond Hunt.
Friends are invited to call on Tuesday July 15 from 5-7 pm at the J.W. Embser Sons Funeral Home in Wellsville. Burial will take place in Woodlawn Cemetery and memorials in Mark's name may be made to the American Cancer Society. To leave online Condolences please visit www.embserfuneralhome.com.
