Wellsville, NY - Fred C. Conklin, age 68, of Route 19 South passed away on Monday, January 14, 2013 at Jones Memorial Hospital after a sudden illness. He was born on April 12, 1945 in Hornell to Clarence and Betsy Mabel Conklin. In 1974 he married Regina Butler who survives him.
Fred graduated from Hornell High School, served in the US Coast Guard from 1964 to 1967 and was a former resident of Canaseraga. Fred started working for Forbes in Dansville and was a self employed electrician who worked also worked on electronics from organs to car stereos. He then worked for a time for ARC and later for Northern Lights Candles both in Wellsville. Fred then worked for Crowley Dairies in Arkport from where he retired. For the last year and a half he volunteered for the Allegany County Meals on Wheels program where enjoyed the smiles he received when he dropped off the meals. Fred had served Canaseraga as Justice of the Peace as well as a volunteer fireman and he later became a volunteer fireman for the Willing Fire Department. He was a member of the Hornell Bible Baptist Church and will be remembered as a loving and compassionate husband, father and friend.
Surviving besides his wife: 3 sons, Phillip Conklin of Olean, Michael Conklin of Buffalo and Kevin Wilson of Wellsville; 2 daughters, Sarah Conklin- Farren of Jamestown and Kathy Conklin Linder of Avon; 13 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by a daughter Patricia A. Murphy as well as 3 brothers and 2 sisters.
There will be no prior visitation and burial will be at the convenience of the family. Memorial donations in Fred's may be made to either the Office of the Aging of Allegany County or to the Willing Fire Department. To leave online condolences please visit www.embserfuneralhome.com.
