Merrimack, NH - Long time resident of Merrimack, Anne T. Goodridge, died on November 15, 2010 at the Merrimack Home Health and Hospice surrounded by her family and friends.
Anne Goodridge was born on January 3, 1934 at her family farm in Kinney, PA to her parents, John and Florence (O'Donnell) Cooney.
Anne attended school in PA. where she was a cheerleader and basketball player. She received a perfect attendance award for having never missed a day in her twelve years of schooling. She later attended business school in Cleveland, Ohio before getting married in to Paul Goodridge in 1956.
In 1967, Anne moved to Merrimack, NH where she raised her ten children. She believed athletics played an important role in youth development and was an original founder of the Merrimack Youth Association, which has served thousands of children since its inception in the late sixties.
Anne was loved for her quick wit and keen sense of humor. She gave herself the nickname of "Fat Grandma" by which she was known by all of her grandchildren who loved her dearly.
Anne was extremely generous and loved to give gifts to her friends and family. Her favorite memories included annual family reunions and celebrating holidays. She especially loved Christmas and its true meaning. Anne also travelled to Europe having been twice to Ireland with her brother and daughters and on two occasions Medjugorje in the former Yugoslavia to pray.
Anne was close to her brothers and had core values of love, loyalty, and family. She is survived by her brother's Richard Cooney and his wife Joanne and Pat Cooney. Anne was an extremely strong woman who profoundly loved her children and grandchildren. Anne's children are Tim and Starr Goodridge; Laurie and Finlay Rothhaus; Theresa and Patrick Dougherty; Mary and Phil Kopp; Bridget and John Burkett; Paula and Patrick Walsh; Patrick and Bobbie Goodridge; Thomas and Cheryl Goodridge; Dennis and Tegan Goodridge; Joe Goodridge and Karen Ray. Grandchildren: John and his wife Amy Goodridge, Chris, Kellie and Brian Goodridge; Erin, Ryan and Sarah "Tweet" Rothhaus; Tavis and Patrick Morello; Joey, Emily, Timmy, Danny and Andy Kopp; Brianne, Katie, John and James Burkett; Colin, Carly and Dillon Walsh; Samantha and Megan Goodridge; Kayla, Emma, Jameson and Molly Goodridge and step grandchildren, Trevor and Paige Prezlock.
She is pre-deceased by her parents, her brothers Dan, Tom and Dennis Cooney, and a great grandson, Logan John Burkett-Alexander.
Visitation will be Saturday from 9:00 AM to 10:30 AM at the J. W. Embser and Son Funeral home 34 W. State Street Wellsville, NY, A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:30AM at the Sacred Heart Church, 263 Main Street Genesee, PA and burial will conclude in St. Mary Cemetery of Kinney, PA.
