Belmont, NY - Ronald O. Gelser of Schuyler Street passed away on Friday, September 17, 2010, at Jones Memorial Hospital in Wellsville. He was born on April 11, 1952 in Wellsville to Orlo and Marleah James Gelser.
Ron graduated from Friendship Central High School and had been a member of the Laborers Union 621 since 1970. He was a social member of the Belmont American Legion Post 808 and a member of the National Rifle Association. Ron loved the outdoors including; fishing, hunting, gardening and when he was able he rode 4 wheelers with his family. He had built several log cabin homes including his own on the Byrnes Road.
Survivors include: his Father, Orlo (Donna) Gelser of Friendship and his mother, Marleah (George) Ritter of Belvidere; 3 daughters, Joanne Mahoney of Georgia, Sarah Daniels of Genesee, PA. and Haley Gelser of Belfast; 3 grandchildren, Logan, Shiah and Carter; 3 brothers, Duane (Terry) Gelser of Dalton, Ken (Marsha) Gelser of Belmont and Alan Gelser of Belmont; 3 sisters, Janet (Allen) Ives of Wellsville, Susan (Garry) Pollock of Portville and Laura (Rick) Jordan of Belmont; 18 nieces and nephews and 16 great nieces and nephews.
Friends are invited to call on Monday, September 20, 2010, from 11 am to 2 pm in the J. W. Embser Sons Funeral Home in Belmont. Ron's Funeral Service will take place in the Funeral Home at the conclusion of calling hours at 2 pm with Pastor Mel Ternes presiding. Burial will take place in Forest Hills Cemetery and memorials in Ron's name may be made to either the Home Care and Hospice in Wellsville or to the American Cancer Society.
