Nitia was a 1954 graduate of Wellsville Central School, She was first employed by Travelers Insurance Company in Buffalo, and later in Wellsville by Empire Gas Company, First Trust Bank, Turbodyne, and Wellsville High School, retiring in 1998. She was a member of the Wellsville First United Methodist Church, and Monday Club. She enjoyed hunting, gardening, painting, reading and traveling, spending lots of time with family
She is survived by two sons, J. Jeffrey (Leanne) Cole of Townsend, TN, Jeremy J. (Mary Kate) Cole of Wellsville, a daughter, Julie Ann Cole of Westminster, CO, five grandchildren, Holly Maxwell, Liz, Molly, and Sarah Cole, and Jack Cole, a sister, Nancy (James) Stevens of Wellsville, as well as several beloved nieces and nephews, including, Frank and Richard Ferry, Jim and Janice Stevens, and Amy Gowdy.
In addition to her parents she was predeceased by a grandson, Jay Thomas Maxwell, two nephews, Bill Ferry and Jay Stevens, and a brother, Francis McCracken.
Friends are invited to call on Sunday, April 3, 2022 from 2 – 4 pm at the J.W. Embser Sons Funeral Home in Wellsville, 34 West State Street. A memorial service will be held on Monday, April 4, 2022 at 11 am in the Wellsville First United Methodist Church with Reverend Craig Buelow presiding. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery.
