Wellsville, NY - Edward W. Carlin, 98, of 2011 Meservey Hill passed away on Wednesday, August 24, 2016 at the Highland Park Healthcare Center, following a brief illness. He was born April 9, 1918 in Scio, the son of Edward and Florence (Black) Carlin. October 2, 1941 in Wellsville he married Eleanor Ketchner who predeceased him on February 27, 2003.
Ed was a 1935 graduate of Scio Central School. He was employed as a machinist at Worthington Turbine from 1940 to 1980. He was a life member of the IAM Moore Lodge Local 1580. Ed was a very hard worker and was always willing to help family, neighbors, relatives and friends. He loved rebuilding steam engines and tinkering.
He is survived by six children, Alan (Janet) Carlin of Wellsville, Rebecca (Harry) Campbell of Arlington, TX, Lois (Joseph) Spinelli of Wellsville, Kathi (Dennis) Dunham of Wellsville, Roger (Cheryl) Carlin of Wellsville and Theresa Willey of Tyaskin, MD, 15 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews and his longtime caregiver, Tina Schrader. He was predeceased by three sisters, Gladys McBride, Doris Harms, and Leola Ketchner, one brother, Everett Carlin, and one great-granddaughter, Cheyenne Campbell.
Friends are invited to call at the J. W. Embser Sons Funeral Home Inc. in Wellsville on Saturday, September 3rd from 1:00 to 3:00 pm. The funeral will follow the visitation at 3:00 pm with Rev.
