Belmont, NY - Claude J. Baker, 83, of 5072 State Route 244 passed away on Sunday, March 8, 2015 shortly after arrival at Jones Memorial Hospital in Wellsville. He was born February 18, 1932 in Belmont the son of Clyde and Onolee (Harris) Baker. On June 6, 1964 in Stannards he married Elaine Dickerson who survives.
Claude was a veteran of the U. S. Navy during the Korean War; serving at Panama Canal. He was formerly employed at Genesee Valley Nurseries in Belmont for 16 years and later was a self employed general contractor in Belmont area. He attended the Belmont First Baptist Church.
Surviving in addition to his wife are five daughters, Kimeysue (Michael) Starr of Scottsville, Kathy Baker of Angelica, Karen (Joseph) Chapman of Great Bend, Karrie (Shawn) O’Brien of Fairport and Kristine (Matthew) Ryder of Macedon, two sons, Karlton (Angie) Baker of Portville and Kalen Baker of Belmont, 19 grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Friends are invited to call on Thursday, March 12, 2014 from 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 pm at the J. W. Embser Sons Funeral Home Inc., 17 Schuyler Street in Belmont. A memorial service and burial is being planned for a later date. The family suggests memorial donations be made to the Amity Rescue Squad.
