Fillmore, NY - Christopher L. Slater, 41, of the Dugway Road passed away at home on January 5, 2014. He was born on October 14, 1972 in DuBois, Pennsylvania. He was the son of Betty Riley and was raised by Vic Batco. In 1993 he married Mary Conley who survives.
Chris was a former resident of Wellsville who had been employed by Gunlock in Wayland. He had been a member of the National Guard in Olean for 7 years and had been deployed to Afghanistan from 2008 to 2009. Chris had been a member of the Moose Lodge 601 and the VFW Post 2530 both of Wellsville. He loved to hunt and was very proud of his children and his grandson.
Survivors include his mother Betty (Martin) Baldwin of Friendship; a son Christian Salter of Friendship; 2 daughters Alisa Root of Florida and Sarah Slater of Friendship; a grandson Karsen of Friendship; 2 brothers Bill Slater of Wellsville and Dave (Rose) Slater of Wellsville; a sister Angel Slater of DuBois; several nieces and nephews; Aunts, Uncles and cousins; his girl friend Amber Reynolds of Fillmore.
Friends are invited to attend a memorial service on Friday, January 10, 2014, at 11 am in the J.W. Embser Sons Funeral Home, 34 West State Street Wellsville, New York.
