Carl N. Leave

Wellsville, NY - Carl N. Leave, 83, passed away on Thursday, December 12, 2013 at the Hart Comfort House in Wellsville following a lengthy illness. He was born April 29, 1930 in Warren, PA the son of the late Carl A. and Laura Hotelling Leave. On August 23, 1952 in Meadville, PA he married Arlene Brown who survives.

Carl was a graduate of Warren High School and served with the U. S. Navy for four years. He graduated from Allegheny College in Meadville with a B. S. degree. He was formerly employed at United Refinery, Corry-Jamestown Manufacturing, Park Davis Drug Company and the Sinclair Refinery before moving to the Wellsville area in 1963. In Wellsville he began his career at Worthington Corporation and retired from Dresser-Rand in 1992, after 28 years of service. He was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church where he was active in the choir, couples club and held several offices within the congregation. He was a life member of the Duke Hose Company, a member of Gideons International, the Genesee Valley Choir and a charter member of the Wellsville Volunteer Ambulance Corps.  

Surviving in addition to his wife of 62 years are three daughters, Linda leave of Clive, IA, Vickie (Bruce) Hand of Wellsville and Margaret Stanford of Jamestown, six grandchildren, Timothy and Thomas Hand, Brent and Jay Spitzer and Aaron and Heather Stanford, one brother, Ronald (Patty) Leave of Tucson, AZ as well as several nieces & nephews. He was predeceased in addition to his parents by a sister; Virginia Pierce He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and his cottage on Chautauqua Lake and he loved being with his grandchildren.   

Friends are invited to call on Monday, December 16, 2013 from 12 noon to 2:00 pm at the First Trinity Lutheran Church, 470 N. Main Street in Wellsville. The funeral will follow visitation at 2:00 pm with Pastor Robert Morris presiding. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, those wishing to make a memorial donation may make their contribution to the Hart Comfort House, The Duke Hose Company, The Trinity Lutheran Church or any charity of the donor's choice.
