Whitesville, NY - Dorotha E. Harris, 95, of 839 Harris Road passed away on Friday, November 29, 2013 at the Hart Comfort House in Wellsville following a brief illness. She was born July 9, 1918 in the Town of Willing the daughter of Archie R. and Fannie (Clark) Foster. On July 4, 1935 in Wellsville she married Lester W. Harris who predeceased her on June 22, 2005.
Dorotha attended the Whitesville United Methodist Church, was a member of the Whitesville Senior Citizens and the Whitesville Cheery Circle Club. She had been an active member of the Yorks Grange, the Independence Historical Society and was a former 4H leader and county officer. She and her husband will be remembered as maple syrup producers. She enjoyed making quilts for family and friends and was well known for her smile and laughter.
She is survived by two sons, Cecil (Maxine) Harris of Casper, WY and Elton (Kristine) Harris of Painted Post, five grandchildren, Tony, Brian, Craig, Dan and Chad Harris, several great- grandchildren, one sister, Virginia Bassett of Alfred as well as several nieces & nephews. She was predeceased by three brothers, William, Archie Edward and Eugene Foster and three sisters, Francelia McGraw, Fannie McGill and Loie Odell.
Friends are invited to call on Thursday, December 5, 2013 from 12 noon to 2 pm at the Whitesville United Methodist Church. The funeral will follow visitation at 2 pm in the church. Burial will be in Whitesville Rural Cemetery. The family suggests memorial donations in lieu of flowers to the Hart Comfort House, the Independence Historical Society or any charity of the donor's choice.
