Wellsville, NY - Monique M. Brownell, age 37, of the Bolivar Road passed away on Wednesday, January 30, 2013, at the Wellsville Manor Care Center. She was born on November 26, 1975 in Wellsville to Gary and Judy Kiefer Brownell.
Monique graduated from the St. Mary's School for the Deaf in 1994 majoring in Culinary Arts. She was employed as a baker in Addison, Illinois before she moved back to this area. Monique enjoyed to roller skate, watch NASCAR and football on TV, she also enjoyed attending the races at McKean County Raceway.
She is survived by: her father, Gary Brownell Sr. of Rochester; her step father Lou (Jane) Hurd of Belmont; paternal grandfather, Hartick Brownell Sr. of Wellsville and her maternal grandfather, Kenneth (Irene) Kiefer of Beaver, PA.; 2 brothers, Gary Brownell Jr. of Pennsylvania and Jerome (Andrea) Hurd of Painesville, OH.; 2 sisters, Terrina (Richard) Santiago of Aurora, IL., and Tammy (Bob) Scharet of Ocala, FL.; several aunts, uncles and cousins; She is also survived by her loving family at the Wellsville Manor Care Center.
Monique was predeceased by her mother Judy Kiefer Hurd, a sister Sonya Hurd and her grandmothers, Nancy "Gramma K" Kiefer and Virginia Brownell.
There will be no prior service, a memorial service will be scheduled for a later date that will be announced. Memorials in Monique's name may be given to the Wellsville Manor Activities Fund. To leave online condolences please visit www.embserfuneralhome.com
What a nice person Monique was. I enjoyed visiting with her and her special friend when I did rounds during my tenure as Chaplain at the Manor. She's doing great now and we will see her again. - Pastor Dick
