  1. Hello. My name is Carol Gray McDowell. I am Shirley Gray Lupis' oldest sister. Our mother, Mary Barnes was admitted to Highland late in Feb. after she'd had surgery on her hip, for Physical Therapy. After 100 days of PT Mom was transferred into Mary Brace's room, directly cross from Mary. Living here in Wellsville has been easy for me to visit mom several times a week and visit Mary Brace simultaneously. I tried to visit when I thought they would be awake. I soon learned that Mary was a special patient, being very quiet, peaceful and never complained. It was easy to visit with her and mom too, as they both were coherent and could carry on a onversation. Mary is where she wanted to be. Recently I gave her drinks, held her hand and talked with her. She shared with me that she was lonesome and wanted to go to Heaven. Earlier she asked to see the priest. I spoke to Kim the Activities Director indicating this and she said Father Becker usually saw Mary Brace and mom Friday mornings and gave them communion. I'm sure Mary is an angel up in Heaven. May God Bless Mary. My heart ached for her!
