Monroe, Michigan - Sarah E. “Sally” Peterson Bassinger, 76, of Stevens Trail died on Thursday, November 5, 2009 at her home. She was born March 25, 1933 in Belmont, NY the daughter of Victor and Ruby (Farrin) Peterson. On June 14, 1958 in Tonawanda, NY she married James Bassinger who survives.
Sally attended the Baptist Bible College in Johnson City, NY and Beauticians School in Buffalo, NY. She was the owner and operator of a ceramics shop. She was a member of the Dundee Baptist Church, where she sang and played the piano. She was also a member of the Frenchtown Senior Citizens, and loved working with children, family travel and ceramics.
Surviving in addition to her husband are two sons, Michael and his wife Sheri of Lambertville, Steven of Monroe, three daughters, Linda (David) Barker of Toledo, Melanie (Kevin) Fanjoy of Colorado and Carrie (Masa) Miyahama of Monroe, two brothers, Carl of Avoca, NY and Donald of Wellsville, NY, one sister, June Harrington of Belmont, NY, ten grandchildren and five great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her parents and a sister.
Friends are invited to a graveside service on Saturday, November 14, 2009 at 11:00 am at Forest Hills Cemetery in Belmont, NY with Pastor Vernon Dean presiding. Memorial contributions are suggested to any charity of the donor’s choice. Local arrangements are under the direction of the J. W. Embser Sons Funeral Home Inc. of Belmont, NY
