Sarah Runyan Myers
Cuba, NY - Sarah Runyan Myers, 47 of 5454 State Route 305 died unexpectedly on Monday, September 21, 2009, shortly after arrival at Olean General Hospital. She was born on November 1, 1961 in Washington, DC the daughter of Lawrence and Elizabeth (Lundquist) Myers.
Sarah was employed by Allegany ARC for over 20 years. She will be missed by her many friends and fellow employees at ARC.
She is survived by a brother, Peter (Susan) Myers of Muskegon, MI, two sisters, Martha (Peter) Long of Vienna, VA. and Maude (Robert) Ham of Burbank, CA as well as several nieces and nephews. Sarah had resided with Michael and Diane Osterhout of Cuba for many years. She was predeceased by a brother, Mark Myers of Houston, TX in January of 2009.
Friends are invited to call on Friday, September 25th from 10:00 to 11:00 am at the J. W. Embser Sons Funeral Home Inc., 34 W. State Street in Wellsville. Christy Sue Davidson McDowell
Christy Sue Davidson McDowell, age 45, of Wellsville, NY, passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, September 17, 2009. She lived life on her own terms and was feisty and incredibly courageous till the end.
Christy was born on November 30, 1963 in Elmira, NY to Albert and Carol (Allen) Davidson Sr. Penn Yan, NY. She attended Our Lady of Lourdes in Elmira. The family moved to Fayetteville, NC, where she attended junior high and in 1978, they returned to NY, settling in Wellsville where she attended Wellsville High School.
Chris loved anything Harley Davidson, going to yard sales, the Buffalo Bills, Bud Lite, happy hour with her friends, blue jeans, flannel shirts and country music. But most of all, she deeply loved her children and her family.
In addition to her parents, Christy is survived by her husband, George McDowell of Wellsville; Grandmother, Mildred Allen (Nan), Charlottesville, VA; children: Lindsay (Eric) Robak, Bolivar, NY, Haley McDowell and George (Geo) McDowell, Wellsville, NY, Step-daughter, Jennifer Beckwith; grandchildren, Lily and Ally Robak, Bolivar, NY; brother, Albert (Emily) Davidson Jr., of Denver, CO and Canandaigua, NY; sister Tamara (Tami) (Scott) Bluett, Hammondsport, NY; nieces and nephews; Todd (Steph) Green, Rochester, NY, Kaitlin Gostley, Wellsville, NY, J. Kyle Gostley, Alfred, NY, Jordan Davidson, Madison Davidson, and Jack Davidson of Mendon, NY; former sister in law, Ann Chaffee; aunts and uncles: Floyd (Butch) and Arletta Allen Jr., Corning, NY and Sharon Allen, Charlottesville, VA; cousins and their spouses, former sister in law, Ann Chaffee Tim, Lisa, Michele Jeff, Jodi, John and her favorite cousin and helping angel, Kelley Willett, Waverly, NY. Sarah E. “Sally” (Wheaton) Marsh
Deland, Florida - Sarah E. “Sally” (Wheaton) Marsh, age 101, was born on June 3, 1908 to Clinton and Susan (Hawley) Wheaton in West Bingham, PA. Sally graduated from Ulysses High School in 1927. She worked briefly in a silk mill in Andover, NY. before marrying Wayne Marsh, January 22, 1930 whom she was married to for 59 years. Her home was in Wellsville for over 70 years before she moved she moved to Deland, Florida where she resided for the past 6 years.
She was a member of the Christian Temple Church, a good Christian woman, loving housewife, a caring mother, grandmother, great grandmother and great great grandmother and good friend to many. Sarah loved to play games of all kinds, especially scrabble which she played until her life ended. She also enjoyed TV game shows and worked the crossword daily. Music was a great pleasure to her, especially country. Bowling with seniors in Wellsville was such a good pastime for her too. On September 15, 2009 she went to be with her Lord, Jesus Christ and her beloved husband Wayne, daughter Lois Darrin, son in law Dick Brague and great granddaughter Whitney Allison Brague. Also to be with her long time dear friend Loleta (Jake) Strong. Deceased brothers and sisters: Cleo, Merrick, Merle, Clayton, Leeta, Edythe, Mary, Betty, Aroneta and Donald.
Survivors are a son, Roger Marsh of Sommers Point, NJ.; daughter and care giver Susan Brague of Deland, FL; son in law James Darrin of Wellsville; grandsons, Kirk Brague & Lesley of Smithfield, RI; Scott Brague & Peggy of Grand Junction, CO; granddaughter, Kathy Porr & Waldo of Deland, FL; step grandchildren Allen Darrin of Wellsville, Julie Darrin of Cheektowaga, David Darrin of Valrico, FL; great grandchildren Amanda Porr, Kimberly Porr, Kelley Brague, Carter Brague, Colleen Brague, Jeff Geeting and Travis Darrin; great great granddaughter Gracie (Sweetie Pie) Geeting.
Also surviving are sister in law Elizabeth Wheaton of San Mateo, FL; brother & sister in law Newell & Betty Potter of Wellsville and numerous nieces and nephews and their families all who were precious to her.
Sarah told people she had three super mothers; her birth mother Susan who died when she was 8 years old; her step mother Anna Smith Wheaton; and her mother in law Alice Marsh. She was blessed to be able to enjoy life to the end of her 101 years with family and friends doing many activities. She was a great lady and will truly be missed by all who knew her.
Friends are invited to call on Sunday September 20 from 2 to 4 pm in the J.W.Embser Sons Funeral Home in Wellsville. Her Funeral service will be held in the funeral home on Monday at 11 am with Rev. Ralph Wagner. Memorials may be given to the Christian Temple Church in Wellsville or to the Wellsville Volunteer Ambulance Corps.

Judith Hardy
Wellsville NY - Judith Hardy of the Smith Road passed away on Sunday September 13, 2009 after a short illness. She was born on July 17, 1943 in Wellsville to William and Helen (Root) Spargur. On November 26, 1975 in Wellsville she married Robert Hardy who predeceased her on October 11, 2006.
Judy graduated from Wellsville High School in 1961 and from OBI in 1962. She began working in the New England area for Hartford Insurance and then for GE and later for Raytheon in New Port, RI. After returning to Wellsville she worked for Air Preheater for 24 years retiring in 1994.
Judy enjoyed golfing, playing bridge, water aerobics, traveling, the outdoors including hunting, bowling, family life and her pets. She was active in youth sports holding offices in Little League Baseball, youth wrestling and youth soccer. Her memberships include, the Women of the Moose, FCC, Wellsville Historical Society, Allegany Royalties, the Red Hat Society, the Wellsville Community Center and the First Congregational Church in Wellsville.
Survivors include: a son Timothy (Amber) Hardy of Wellsville and a daughter Debra (Jay) Clark of Deltona, FL. 3 grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Judy was predeceased by her parents; 2 sisters, Jane Barrozini and Joan Witherall.
Friends are invited to call on Thursday September 17, 2009 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm in the J.W.Embser Sons Funeral Home in Wellsville. Her Funeral Service will take place on Friday at 2 pm in the First Congregational Church in Wellsville with Reverend’s Bill Jones and Ralph Eastlack. Burial will take place in Stannards Cemetery and memorials in her name made to the Wellsville Community Center.

Beverly C. Saxton
Belmont, NY - Beverly C. Saxton of the Eymer Road passed away on Sunday September 13, 2009 at home. She was born on February 17, 1937 in Cleveland Ohio to Joseph and Carrie (Stiles) Decker.
Beverly was an owner of the former Dough Box in Wellsville and was a secretary at Alfred University for Many years. Most recently she worked for the Salvation Army Store, a job which she enjoyed, in Scio. Beverly loved to dance as well as play and sing country music, entertaining residents of nursing homes. She was a member of the Allentown United Methodist Church and will be remembered for sense humor and her trusting nature.
Survivors include: her mother Carrie; a son John (Janie) Saxton of Scio; a daughter Tracey (Richard) Elias of Scio; 8 grandchildren, Mychal W. and Heather, Houston C. and Katie, Skylor M., Cheyenne E., Hallie W., Christopher H., Timothy T. and Samantha J.; 2 great grandchildren, John and Elisa; a brother Joseph (Patricia) Decker of Belmont; several nieces and nephews; a special friend Ray Wetherby.
She was predeceased by her father and a brother, David Decker and a sister Audrey Freeland.

Joyce M. Bradley
Belmont NY - Joyce M. Bradley of County Road 48 passed away on Tuesday September 8,2009 at the Jones Memorial Hospital. She was born on April 9, 1957 in Springville and on October 26, 2001 she married Jack F. Bradley who survives.
Joyce was a former resident of Tonawanda and had worked for Mercy Home Care in the Buffalo area. She enjoyed traveling, entertaining friends and extended family as well as the outdoors, including fishing, small game hunting and target shooting. Joyce was a member of the American Legion Post 702 Auxiliary of Wellsville.
Friends are invited to call on Friday, September 11 from 12 noon to 1 pm, at the J.W.Embser Sons Funeral Home in Belmont. Her funeral service will be held at 1 pm following the visitation with Pastor Carl Kemp presiding. Burial will take place in the Bath National Cemetery.

Garnet L. Graves
Wellsville - Garnet L. Graves of the Hallsport Road passed away on Friday September 4, 2009 in the Jones Memorial Hospital. She was born on April 24, 1931 in Uniontown, PA. to Harry and Ethel (Bolen) Layhue. On February 15, 1965 she married John A. Graves who survives her.
Garnet was a long time resident of the Hallsport Road. She is survived by her husband John and a stepson Steven Graves of Corning. She was predeceased by her parents, four sisters and a brother.
There will be now prior visitation and burial will take place in the Hallsport Cemetery at the convenience of the family. Arrangements are under the direction of the J.W.Embser Sons Funeral Home in Wellsville.
