Ronald “Ron” James Baker

WELLSVILLE, NY — Ronald “Ron” James Baker, 76, of Wellsville passed away Thursday (Dec. 31, 2015) following a lengthy illness.

Born in Belmont May 1, 1939, he was a 1956 graduate of Belmont Central School. In 1959 he married his first wife, Kay Carpenter who predeceased him. He married Patricia Ross Pratt on Oct. 30, 2004, she survives.

A man of many talents, throughout his life “Ronny” worked as a draftsman, machinist, mechanic, and on state and local construction projects. He operated heavy equipment and trucks. He was employed at Worthington, Air PreHeater, J.J. Power Tongs, drilled water wells. From 1998 to 2008 he was the ower and operator of RJB Trucking a cross-country trucking business.

He enjoyed many outdoor activities including hunting. He was a fan of NASCAR and enjoyed spending time and working on projects with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. 

He is survived by his wife, Patricia of Wellsville; two sons, Gary and Curt Baker of Friendship and one daughter, Laurie “Jeff” Taylor of Friendship; one sister, Carol and several half-brothers and half-sisters; a sister-in-law, Kathryn Ross; and one stepdaughter, Michele Seaver of Wellsville and three stepsons, John Seaver of Ithaca, Ross Seaver of Cuba and Greg Pratt of Wellsville; 17 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren.

There will be no visitation, a memorial service will be held at the convenience of the family.

  3. I wish to send my condolences to the family of Ron Baker. Ron and I graduated from Belmont class of 56 and worked together as draftsman at Worthington. Back then we carpooled and when Ron drove, we made the trip in record time. He always had a kind hello when seeing him down town. I am so sorry for your loss .You are in my prayers.
